Has anyone tried it yet? I'm guessing its out since you can buy a computer with it preloaded from walmart.com.

Interesting... I've never heard of this OS before. I just checked out their website.

So, how would you rate it?

Maybe Numlock was thinking of MSLinux.org ;)

PR actually come out today saying that they are selling LINDOWS based systems. Thinking of driving down there to test one out.

Hmmmmm:confused:

You can also sign up on their pre-release program, may qualify you to get free copies, in it's current state out of 10 I'd rate it a 4.

What do we ask of you?

- A $99 fee for a one year membership
- Your feedback about our plans, our products and our future direction
I have this thing about paying for early versions of software and paying them to give them feedback about their plans, their products and their future direction. If they want that, they can send me a copy.

It is not a joke at all but I agree 100% with Chicken that they shouldn't charge for people to test it...

I think it does look cool - and has some neat potential. But I also agree with Chicken and ShareFile that there's no wat I'm going to fork over a hundred bucks to get a preview release. I think they need to add some kind of "These Win programs work with Lindows..." ala what CodeWeavers has done for Wine before I hand over my hard earned cash.

I tried .90 and it didn't work.... I have .92, but haven't gotten around to installing it...

I have tried it, there is a potential. In my opinion, if they succeed this could finially be a way to start introducing Windows users to linux and open source. I'm not even talking about geeks, but about normal people. For example, I do not have Linux running on my main computer at home because the family wants to use Internet Explorer, Outlook and so on. Lindows might be the solution to that problem. Wal-mart selling machines pre-installed is probably a good move from Lindows' side.

I haven't been to Wal-mart of late, however are they selling machines with only lindows installed or is there windows and lindows? I ask because I would think that a lindows only machine would sell about as well as christmas trees to Jewish folk. Other op. systems have been in stores before (MS strongarmed the stores regarding the sales, according to the internet rags), but we'll see.

I dont think they are selling computers only with lindows, just these: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product_listing.gsp?cat=96356&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3951%3A41937%3A86796%3A96356&bti=0&sb=61

Monitor and floppy disk drive are not included

Geez talk about cheap.. A floppy cost them about what 75 cents?

That would turn me away from buying it, anyone that cheap in building there PC's I can only imagine what components they are using.

LOL read this thread earlier and never bothered looking at the link considering I build from scratch. But the forum got slow and it was the only post so I clicked the link to check it out. Saw the same thing as you and laughed. Had to double look. At first I was like oh it's just saying that floppy disks don't come with it. Then I was like wait it says drive. WTF

I heard that they were like breaking a lot of copyright laws.. hmm. Maybe I was mistaken.
