Jim11 06-18-2002, 08:25 PM I just open up a new site.I would like to know what is a fast free search engines submitter Axel Teflon 06-18-2002, 08:48 PM The site submitter feature on CPanel. :) Jim11 06-18-2002, 08:54 PM My cp doesnt have it nuthin 06-18-2002, 09:01 PM don't use automated programs, That's your best bet. Axel Teflon 06-18-2002, 09:04 PM Alright, I'll kindy do it for you then :) Please fill in the following details and send them to me either by replying or pm'ing me. URL: Email: Comments: Keywords: Language: Country: Catagory: Filling in the above information will send out your site to over 10 top search engines: alltheweb, altavista, directhit, excite, go, google, hotbot, infomak, lycos, mixcat, northernlight, webtop, and whatuseek nuthin 06-18-2002, 10:20 PM you can submit to directhit? directhit does not exist. i suggest you pay teoma/ask here. (http://ask.ineedhits.com/) Northernlight does search queries to the public anymore? I don't think so there just now doing news and corporate search solutions, Have been for about 3 months or so. Excite? Excite closed down along time ago, You can NOT submit here for free. I believe portions of excite's index is now powered by overture/dmoz/dogpile now days. Hotbot? You can't submit to hotbot.com as they don't do free submissions no more, Which i assume the Cpanel will be going to try and submit too. I suggest try going through here. (http://www.hotbot.lycos.co.uk/submit.html) Altavista? Yeah i'm sure automated programs can submit to altavista. Altavista stopped automated programs trying to submit to them along time ago(about 6 months) I suggest try and submit to here. (http://addurl.altavista.com/sites/addurl/newurl) Go? Go.com formerly Infoseek is powered by Overture so unless u pay Overture it's highly unlikely you can submit to Go for free. The point? The search engine submitter used in Cpanel is practically worthless. JayC 06-18-2002, 11:39 PM If you don't want to put time into learning the subtle intracacies of each search engine -- and don't want to spend money on paid inclusion or paid spidering programs, here's a simple and effective approach: Build a good, content-rich site. Get just a few links from other established sites. And then instead of worrying about submission, put your time into developing still more content. Submit to just one place: the Open Directory Project at dmoz.org. If you're not in there in three or four weeks, submit again. Once you're in dmoz (if not before) every significant search engine that still has a free inclusion option will spider you and index your site. Free bulk search engine submission is essentially a thing of the past. viGeek 06-19-2002, 01:17 AM Very good advice Jay C (as always). I notice after building sites, I just trade a link or two with a couple established sites. And eventually I start popping up in all search engines after several months. Jim11 06-19-2002, 12:38 PM Thanks for the help guys I pmed you Axel Teflon Jodi K. 06-20-2002, 11:28 AM I TOTALLY agree. Free bulk search engines submissions are basically useless. Dmoz.org is definitely the place to get submitted to first. Google also gives you good marks (and higher ranking!) for being in there - and you don't have to submit yourself anywhere else because everyone else WILL find you once you're in Dmoz.org. However, if you do have a few bucks, I highly suggest getting yourself into Inktomi . I use www.ineedhits.com to do that, but there are a few others. It's WELL worth the $90 or so dollars for 3 pages because those pages then get re-spidered (ie: looked at with their search engine software) once every 2 days. That means that if you make any adjustments to the pages, it'll only take 2 days for you to see where you'll appear in the engines. Inktomi also powers MANY other engines out there like HotBot, MSN and others. For what you're getting, it doesn't cost a lot at all (though that $90 is a yearly subscription) and it increases your coverage by a LOT. Another word of advice - give LookSmart a miss. Don't pay for it. If you can get a non-commercial site in through Zeal.com (you need to be an editor in order to do that) then do it, sure. But don't give them any of your money. Their new system sucks pretty badly and costs more money than the $299 they were originally charging for 2 day inclusion. Some people have been advised by messages once they've participated in their system, that in order to keep up the amount of click throughs they previously enjoyed, it will cost them over $3,000 !! Ugh. Inktomi is seen in many of LookSmart's locations anyway, costs a lot less, and they don't seem to be changing their terms of agreement at the drop of a hat in order to suit their own agenda. LookSmart changed their payment schedule, and didn't grandfather any of the older sites that had already PAID their $299 to be included! Disgraceful. I think there's even a class-action lawsuit against them based on that. Anyway, just my $0.02 :) All the best, --Jodi matt2kjones 06-21-2002, 03:24 PM Hi, i have just started a website, and needed information about search engines, i did what you suggested, and submitted my site to dmoz.org Thanx! |
