Well you be surprised what people will pay.I know of company that six stores which sells contruction supplies.I heard from someone I know someone that works there and from I understand they paid a few thousand of dollars for webdesign. There website is basic html and from the looks they took a few pictures inside the store.I estimate the site to be less than 5mb of webspace and usage I would believe that the site bandwidth usage would probally be less than 1gb a month.I am not sure much how much they paid for hosting but from what I heard they are paying alot. (over $75 a month) I just did quick lookup of there website and from what found so far it appears that the site hosting them does not appear to offer normal web hosting packages. The offer colocation services and stuff like that.I would hate to think if they are paying for whole server for such a small site.Unless they buying space from someone bought a server from that company it looks like they are buying a renting whole server from them. The company does not have pricing on the website hate to find out what it is. AcuNett 06-18-2002, 08:04 PM Or how bout 50GB for $3/month ;). There are those crazy hosts. NovaW 06-18-2002, 09:27 PM People will pay excessive prices for only 2 potential reasons : 1. Some added value or image that the customer believes is worth a premium 2. Or, they simply don't know any better Probably No.2 is the reason - hardly suprising - lots of players in the market & lots of customers with no easy way to find what the best price/deal is. There is a huge difference in pricing for a given specification. Educated consumers don't pay too much generally. |
