Are off-line publications still alive?

I mean publications for web and graphic designers. Anybody buys them? Anybody has a subscription? And if yes, what publications?

Yep, Computer Arts (http://www.computerarts.co.uk).

US publications have always been thin on the ground for some reason but these are the ones that drain my wallet each month:

Computer Arts (http://www.computerarts.co.uk/)
Digit (http://www.digitmag.co.uk/)
Cre@te Online (http://www.createonline.co.uk/)
IdN Magazine (http://www.idnworld.com/)
iT Graphics (http://www.itgraphics.com.au/)
Desktop: Magazine (http://www.isubscribe.com.au/title.cfm?ID=289)

And no, not a US based mag amongst them :)

IdN and Desktop both have some serious eyecandy in them and are great for inspiration. The others offer more in the way of tech and reviews (tutorials etc)

A fairly heafty investment each month, but all are very good.

I am considering to place an ad somewhere there. Do you think it's worth it?

Haven't done it myself, but I have sen a few threads regarding it on the forum from time to time. The usual result seems to be it's good if you have the spare cash and are looking for some branding, but actual return on investment is very small, considering the cost of a print ad.
