I don't like the idea of 2 servers in-1-box if you know what I mean, so I looked at http://www.Polyserve.com 'Understudy' software for raqs. I like the idea. That way I can have high-availability and good perfomance with the load-balancer. Also it's easy just to add another server when it's needed, I guess. What do you guys think? The cost is $1000 for 2 servers and $1500 for 4 servers. I know it's expensive but I can afford it. The question is: do you think it's better than building a "powerhouse" and deal with a server that may overheat. I was thinking of using raq4r (512 ram) as servers. I would start with 2 and then 2 more when needed.(hopefully! (-:

Let me add, that 'understudy' is a load-balancing/cluster software.

Frankly, I never liked the idea of Load Balancing at the server level. Its more expensive, but you may want to consider using an appliance based load balancer.

I would at least take a look at SonicWall's (nee Phobos) load balancer appliance:

There are better brands out there, but this is more reasonably priced.

Hope this helps.
