I haven't done a domain transfer to a new registrar before, and im on the edge of doing one now. I have a question however. The domain we want to transfer has 6 name servers registered through it. When we transfer the domain, will the name servers still be registered or do I need to re-register them again? Im not sure if this helps but we are moving from dotreg ( a reseller for them anyways ) to godaddy. Thanks.

I just got a responce from godaddy support saying I would have to re-register them again.. thats not a good thing. I can't have any downtime. They did mention that its possible for the current register to keep the name servers registered.. has anyone does this? do you know if dotreg does this at all?

I would like to know the answer to this myself. I have two domains that I would like to transfer away from and OpenSRS reseller to an enom account and I am really worried about the nameservers that are registered for each.

The domain transfer process does not effect nameservers. This is by design - and in fact there is no way for a transfer request made to the registry to impact your nameservers.

If GoDaddy needs you to "create" your nameservers again on their systems, that would be a local requirement for managing your nameservers at GoDaddy. The nameserver entries have already been created and they are in the root zone files associated with your domain name. That will not change just because you change registrars.
