OK so who is going to which?
VintageHost 10-18-2006, 01:23 AM Jay Conrad Levinson's been around for a long time now teaching his guerrilla marketing scheme. it's a good place to start if you've got no marketing experience.
igrowyourbiz 10-18-2006, 06:54 AM scheme? wow -- you must not know much about him.
Don't confuse jay with some late night infomercial get rich quick "guru"
He has withstood the test of time, and no one stands close.
Please let me share what his "schemes" include:
==>Jolly Green Giant, Marlboro Man and Pillsbury Dough boy, United's Friendly Skies - those were all part of his "schemes" - and yes they have been around a long time -- 1955 or so, not bad.
==>Apple, Microsoft, Starbucks are all customers of his "schemes"
==>His "schemes" are solicited, and published in Inc, Entreprenuer and Fortune Magazine regularly
==>His "scheme" is the best selling marketing series in history, thus he is attributed as the "Father of Guerrilla Marketing"
==>His books on his "scheme" are REQUIRED reading for many MBA degrees
==>Over 30 books in the series sold over 14 million in dozens of countries and languages
I dare say NO ONE ALIVE has done more for marketing and small businesses than Jay conrad Levinson.
And he's been around since most of todays "internet gurus" were in diapers and the net wasn't even open to the public yet.
Indeed, regardless of what one THINKS they may know of marketing, its a good place to start and finish for any business, as I have yet to meet anyone with the longevity and depth of Jay Conrad Levinson.
As far as I am concerned -- TWO ABSOLUTE MUST READ BOOKS ARE:
Guerrilla Marketing Handbook by Jay Conrad Levinson
and
The "E" Myth by Michael Gerber
If you aspire to be, or consider yourself an entrepreneur - you must know whats taught in those books.

What's funny is the selective comprehension exhibited by you in your last statement...completely throwing out my reccomendation on using it as a starting point and focusing on one word in the sentence. Good job!
Oh, by the way, the use of quotes on a word is done in order to place a word out of context. If you wish to stress a word in a response, paper, memo, or any of the above, use italics.

:o Actually, no.
It was the usage of the word "scheme" - which I am not sure how you will somehow spin it to make it seem you meant it in a good way.
And the CONTEXT of your sentence using that word implying that its for beginners who know absolutely nothing and if you have any experience it would be "below" you.
Guerrilla marketing is not where people "start" when they are clueless- its where sharp people end when they are ready to operate at a higher level.
and this is a forum - not legal document-or sales slick-so for the sake of time - why go back and italic, bold, underline, or color just so that people like you can get their jollies?
CAPS or "quotes" is fine and it did the job, as you would have understood it was in "qoutes" -
But regardless, that is NOT what I was doing -- I was quoting your misuse of the word scheme, as applied to jay.
I was not attempting to EMPHASISE the word -- if I spoke that sentence I would make the motions with my two fingers on each side representing "quotes" and I would probably say "quote, unqoute" ;)
Now that I see you are a nitpicker - I know not to respond to any of your other "comments". <<<<<hows that for emphasis
VintageHost 10-19-2006, 12:20 AM I'm glad you have the time to make such a lengthy post because it was what I was attempting to make you do. Psychology works in funny ways, eh? Enjoy your seminars.

Seminars are great. They're great tools for learning new marketing stratagies for any business, and they're great in that you can see what your competitors are doing as well.
The number reason why I like seminars though; networking. Social network is a tremendous tool that any business person should take advantage of. The more people you know, and the more people that like you, the more powerful you are.
To ignore seminars and write them off as a waste of time, is an awful business practice. Jay Conrad Levinson's stuff, while basic, it get's you thinking. You're always going to learn something new when you go to his seminars or when you read one of his books, but most importantly is that his stuff get's you thinking on your business and the market conditions. They refresh you, and can really help you develop a marketing campaign.
VintageHost 10-20-2006, 12:09 AM Ah jesus, if people could only learn to stop selectively comprehending things and start learning truly what others mean. SEMINARS ARE A GREAT TOOL FOR LEARNING AND FOR SOCIAL NETWORK, YES. I never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, in any of my posts above said otherwise nor bashed the concept of a seminar.
fairfax 10-20-2006, 03:37 PM Here is in the U.S., the word "scheme" is usually used to describe a scam of some sort. However, in many parts of the world, the word "scheme" is used to describe a completely legitimate program or proposal. I'm sure VintageHost used the word with the latter usage in mind. I think there has been a cultural misunderstanding here.
DataViking 10-20-2009, 08:32 PM anyone coming to the one this year in Las Vegas?

DataViking,
You just responded to a 3 year old post. Why? What seminar are you talking about in Vegas?
IF your looking for a good and free web hosting seminar, check out http://www.webhostbootcamp.net, which the next one is in December. I attended the last one and it was pretty good.
