im just wondering whom you personally think is a better flash designer , why you think they're better , and if you had 10,000 to spend on a site , who would choose to build a site for you ?

http://2advanced.com
http://pixelbrick.com

I prefer PixelBrick. The reason being is because I just love their style. If I had $10,000 I would definately go with PB.

i say they are excellent designers but i would never spend 20k just for a site design, rather i would spend it on learning how to make one just like theirs....

They could be as talented but in differnet ways. A third option Watson! Hmmm...

hmmm , http://ultrashock.com or maybe http://nrg.be , maybe i should have included those as well , i would personally take a site from anyone of these designers , but i do have my preference

I could be mistaken, but it doesnt look like ultrashock does any design work at all. Am I missing something?

but ultrashock and nrg.be go hand and hand , ultrashock is more of a collective of artists . Peter Van den Wyngaert owns nrg.be and helps head up ultrashock . Either way it goes , they both have business contacts for multimedia presentation on there site .

Between those two companies, I'd go with 2Advanced.

Otherwise, I'd go with: http://www.burntgraphix.com

You'd better have a closer look. 2Advanced won't even look at a 10K job last time I checked with them.

One thing I don't like about 2advanced and burntgraphix is everything has to 'load'. Some parts of the main site take quite a while to load, yet you can't click on anything without having to wait for something to load. The sites are also less traditional, menus harder to navigate through, etc.

While I think all the designers are very talented, in terms of usability, I'd say the pixelbrick site blows 2advanced and burntgraphix out of the water. Those two seem to be orientated more for the graphic designer type or more experienced web surfer.

As I said, all good, but in different ways and when you say, "Which is better?" we need some definite qualities to judge the two by. Also, it is hard to judge the portfoilios of some of these guys as the site makes that just a tad bit difficult and time consuming.

I've got to agree w/ Chicken on that last point. As a designer I love to see really cool flash and whatnot, but as a consumer I can't stand waiting for my pages to load - I just go somewhere else. I think if I were getting a site designed I would definatly choose PixelBrick out of the firms mentioned so far simply because they seem to have a better understanding of what the consumer wants to see and experience. I think that's one reason you'll never see any mainstream sites (and by mainstream I mean geared towards geeks and non.. alike) developed more than 20 or 30 percent in flash. It's just not practical - most people want their info and they want it as fast as possible.

Good luck if you're trying to get PixelBrick to do work for you. Over the space of two weeks, I sent four emails, cc'd to three different email addresses within the company and three weeks later I haven't had any reply whatsoever.

Not the kind of people that I like to deal with.

Well to be honest most studios of any decent size won't look at anything less than 17k but it all depends on what industry their target is of course.

I just started reading through all of these posts this morning because I had noticed in my links references. My site is no comparison though with 2advanced and pixelbrick because one they are established design studios built to market themselves. Personally my site is a very simple portfolio site that I designed and put up in 2 days in order to get a job last September and I haven't touched it since so there obviously isn't all that much thought put into the fuctionality. I just needed something up quick so there ya have it. I appriciate even the thought though.

btw I'm Tony from burntgraphix. I'm just waking up, this all may make no sense in a couple of hours when I read back over it but I thought I should reply.

Anyway, thanks for even mentioning my ****, it's always fun finding your name in the odd places all over the web.

2advanced:cool: :smokin: :pimp:
When i last spoke to 2advanced in April, i was told that their own site cost $300k and they had work booked for at least the next 18months.

Oh wow, I never knew that they'd been contracted for projects of that magnitude.

I have a buddy who did the bn.com site and when you are talking that much, it isn't just for web design. The 300K was an example price of how much it would cost to build a similar site to 2advanced I'm guessing you meant? Saying their own site cost $300K doesn't make much sense...

your correct chicken, they said it would cost between 300k and 500k for a site similar to theirs, and yes that would include the complete backend etc, I doubt very much that anyone would pay 300k for just visuals, but then again i might be wrong in my assumption.
