bigpie 10-14-2006, 04:39 AM Very nice pricing! will this deal expire anytime soon?
Shock Hosts 10-14-2006, 04:43 AM Yes, please list the expiry date.
We'll keep this price for a week, however after that time, it will only go up $10 to $139.
Thanks!
aingaran 10-14-2006, 08:47 AM Where's the server located?
RAM is upgradeable to 2 or 4GB?
Hi,
We are located in the Cogentco datacenter outside of Washington, DC.
The P4 systems are upgradeable to 2 GB. Should you need more power, we have dual Xeon systems as well.
Thanks.
bananu 10-14-2006, 02:49 PM Do have a test file and/or ping? Your company hasn't really popped up much in threads about dedicated servers so just wondering what your track record is etc.
Also: it says OS of your choice on your virtual servers and does not list Windows on the dedicated, so I take it you do not offer Windows Server as OS?

Hi, are you looking at our web site or our post here today? The test file and ping test IP are above. Also, Windows Server is available as an add-on.
Thanks.
bananu 10-15-2006, 12:16 AM Sorry, I didn't see the test file link, I saw it now. What kind of connection and server is the test file on? My connection has max about 900 kB/s but the test file only downloads at about 240 kB/s :-( Maybe it's a bad time of the day, I will try again tomorrow.
Also, how much is Windows Server 2003 Standard? We do live webcasting and need Windows Media Services for that so we cannot use the Web edition.

Hi, we sent a quote for Win Server 2003 Std to you separately.
Are you sure that your connection speed is 900 kbps and the download is showing 240 kB/s? A Windows download is going to show the size in kiloBYTES per second as opposed to kilobits per sec. So you have to multiply 240 kB/s by 8 to get the kbps speed.
Thanks.

This company has a great track record, my clients have purchased servers from them in the past and they've always been happy with the support and quality.
We have 3 servers with them, and they're running great.
I'm also getting lower speeds from a 100Mbit cogent link in LA

Thanks for checking! I think a lot of people using Windows see "xxx KB/s" and forget that you need to multiply by 8 to get the kbps rate.
If anyone is interested in a server, we will furnish you with an ftp site for better testing. In any case, if we didn't think you'd be fully satisfied with our service, we wouldn't be offering these FREE TRIALS this week!
We are almost sold out on these!
