Hi, i have been working with windows 2k web servers for a while now, and want to set up my own home server.

I cannot afford licences for win2k servers and wish to try out linux.

Which linux version would u recommend for a web server, and also, any good tutorials on the internet that show you how to secure a linux web server (because it has to be secure)

Also, how much mem would you need to run a linux webserver with about 40 people connected at a given time.

All of them -- well, except maybe RedHat 4.3. Yes, lots of good articles on securing a linux web server. Try here:

There will be about 40 people posting in forums

so its gunna be running php scripts

got 512MB in server but can easily pop down the shop and get another 512MB
