I have a retarded question: I just downloaded PuTTY as an SSH client. But i don`t want to have that PuTTY icon on my desktop cluttering it up. I want to access the freakin thing in my start up menu instead. You know so i can access it by clicking on:
START-->PROGRAMS-->PuTTY
When i downloaded it i told it to install it into my "program files" but it still won`t go there. Geez...can someone maybe tell me how to get it there cause obviously i`m a bimbo...

...huh?
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying... but if you want putty on the start menu, put it anywhere on your hard drive. Any folder will do. Then, open the folder where you put the putty.exe file. Drag the putty.exe file icon from that folder and hold it over the start button. Then, when the start menu opens, drag it over Programs. Then, let go whereever you want it to go on the Programs menu. A shortcut will be created.
I probably didn't solve your problem. And these instructions are for Windows 98. If you don't have it, :(

I was trying to delete the stupid icon completely but couldn`t...i just stuck it into the program files folder and created shortcut like you said and now i can get to it in my start up menu...
errrr nevermind.

See, this is why Windows users have hard times transitioning over to Mac...
They tend to delete 'icons' on the Mac, that weren't 'icons'.....
Hmm...:D

I find your use of the word "retard" and "retarded" quite offensive and I find the fact that this thread hasn't been edited yet by a moderator even more offensive.

Actually no. I find it offensive and don't mind saying so.
When you have worked for people with disabilities for as long as I have, you come to find word usage quite disturbing. I have seen it all and I don't mind pointing out obvious ones like this that shouldn't have to happen in our world anymore.

we as seeing that my gradmother has a mental hadicap and seeing I am very involved in working with handicapped people as a matter of fact me and 2 employees we in the easter seals relay on saturday out here in waltham ma which we raised 2450 dollars this year for I dont really find this offensive.. it is one thing to just out right make fun of people with mental or physical handicap's and it is another thing to just be making conversation. I am sure this was in no way said in a way to offend people.. it is a different think to just be a prude and everything you can..

You are right. Anyone who still uses the word "handicapped" wouldn't find this offensive at all.
i dont see anything wrong with a person calling "themself" a retard , he didnt make a comment about anyone but himself , nor did he direct his comments to a handicap person .
re·tard
Pronunciation: ri-'tärd
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French or Latin; Middle French retarder, from Latin retardare, from re- + tardus slow
Date: 15th century
transitive senses
1 : to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishment : IMPEDE
2 : to delay academic progress by failure to promote
intransitive senses : to undergo retardation
Main Entry: 2re·tard
Function: noun
Date: 1788
1 /ri-'tärd/ : a holding back or slowing down
I find it offensive that you automatically assume that retard can only describe a person with a handicap . Anyways , you know the person wasnt trying to offend anyone . Ive always found this board pretty mild , i know ive never been offended by anyone here , then again , how could i let someone i dont even know offend me , its just words .

You are right. I apologize for making that assumption.

Excuse me.
What the hell? If you find that offensive then i`m sorry but that is your problem.
Some people need to lighten up and not make such a big deal out of every little petty thing.
Give me a break!
