Hello,
Someone on Plesk forums told that Plesk will release version 5.0 (previously 3.0) very soon. It will have billing, support ticket and some other features.
He quoted an email from a Plesk staff.
Does anyone know more about its features?

They have changed the version number, yes.
Not sure about a release date, I am expecting it to probably be 6 months, but that is a guess known on very little information.

Why would they change a version number? I mean does 5.0 sound better then 3.0 or does it symbolize a large change.

They are using the AVS, Aol versioning system, every little change gets a huge version increase :D
Or maybe they just want too :rolleyes:

... going from 2.0 to 5.0 is merely stupid and pityful. It is as I would go into the WHT DB and increase my postcount by 1.000 or so. Now of course I cannot do that but even if I could I wouldn't cause it is lame and it will not go unnoticed and everyone would just think of me as being pityful... like PLESK :D :rolleyes:

I believe the current version of Plesk is 2.5 , so maybe with each new version they're going to double the number. So it won't be too long before we can use Plesk 160 :cool:

Maybe because they want to seem good enough compared to CPanel 5.x versions?

Plesk is by far the best control panel panel I have used, so whatever version number they decide to use, whether it be 3, 5, or even 82, I don't care, I will still use it. I am sure they will have a good reason upon release time why 5.0 and not 3.0. Sorry for dragging it out for one more post Chicken, just had to get my 2 cents out.
As far as I have heard there is going to be some major changes as well as some great new features added. PEM is also going to be released sometime and maybe that has something to do with it.
