View Full Version : Nocster, good...
ScottD 06-16-2002, 10:10 AM My hats off to the folks at Nocster, and specifically Matthew. I ordered a server with CPanel from them, mostly for research and to learn the ins and outs of CPanel and possibly to use for reseller hosting where HSphere is lacking.
The order went off perfectly, there was a small bit of confusion as to the hard disk size which said 20 GB in one place and 60 GB on the order form so I asked Matt about it and he said that it was indeed a mistake and should have been 20 GB. They gave me the 60 GB drive and corrected the error. That is good customer relations!
Oh well, back to the grind to learn Cpanel as much as possible. Thanks guys, things are looking good!
Andyc 06-16-2002, 11:58 AM I agree. I pre-ordered and have been 100% satisfied with the server, customer service, and tech support. A lot of credit goes to Matthew.

I have also ordered a server yesterday. I will share the experience with you guys. :)
i think so
Nocster is very good
Futuredood 06-16-2002, 04:06 PM i just ordered a virtual hosting server, package number 5 or somethin.. can't wait to see what these guys are all about:D
viGeek 06-16-2002, 04:12 PM Its nice to see some positive comments on the forum. Most of the threads lately have been negative. I have been taking a look at the nocster product line, and been considering grabbing one of those servers. By the comments in this post, I think i will go ahead :)
phantasywork 06-16-2002, 07:05 PM Well I haven't been a Nocster custome Long (5 days) But they Have always came through when I had a question and a problem and the service is just awesome. I don't see why people pic on the Because the bandwith is Congent and Qwest ..all my sites scream and I haven't notice any downtime yet other than a bad hard drive I had which they fixed . I give them 2 thumbs up :stickout
Nephand 06-16-2002, 07:12 PM I'm curious about their 'live' support options, such as AOL IM and ICQ......are they always on?
Do they have any IRC chat options? I must admit that it's a big bonus to have someone there in a more visible/instant fashion than email.
Also, their Dedicated servers they class as Managed, can you still do all the root modifying you want?
I have to say I'm very torn between Nocster and RackShack right now.
Can anyone who has a server with nocster care to share what the speed is like? (ie: network connectivity) I'm interested to see the results. :D

i asked them to help me to make my DNS
but until know , i couldn't make my DNS , and there is no reply
i need to use my server , but i couldn't
i don't know any thing about their live support , because i am using usually email , i don't know how can i use their live support
for me , i recommend you , try with Nocsrer
i had try RackShack , their servers whith out any softwere
and they cann't help you if you want any help in your server
i think Nocster is very nice , but i am very sad because they don't help me to creat my own DNS
i am waiting >>>
BurstNET 06-16-2002, 07:50 PM naif:
I responded to your ticket regarding setting up your dns nameserver like 24-48 hours ago....
Did you not get the ticket response?
Sean R.
BurstNET
phantasywork 06-16-2002, 08:03 PM Well I know BurstNet is most always on AIM , I have had techs talk to me on ICQ and MSN also at all hrs of the day.
Nephand , Yes you can do root file Modifying.
it's a pretty easy setup to manage but remember you need to atleast have some knowledge of things such as DNS server and creating accounts ,etc . I really think when they say managed they do have limit's to what they will help with I mean it's a great price for what you get.
311 , the Network has been ultra speedy for me and I havent noticed any slow downs during peak times or any downtime.
Like I said I don't understand why people pick on there netwrok it has been great
:stickout
Nephand 06-16-2002, 08:15 PM Thanks phantasy.
Ohh, one other [hopefully last] thing, if I add, for example, a subdomain via root SSH, will CPanel show this? Or do I have to add things through the Panels for them to show up in the panels?
hi , BurstNET
i received your reply yestarday and i couldn't understand the first and the second points
because my background in telnet/ssh not very good so i couldn't do any thing
i replied to your massege today but i didn't receive any massege from you until know
i knew if i can't use SSH or if i couldn't understand you , it is not your mistake, but i really need help , because i need to use my server as soon as possible
Not to knock Nocster (no pun intended) but them claiming 'managed' servers is a _slight_ overstatement. They could hardly manage and support my tickets with a shared account. I'm not sure how much has changed in the year since I stopped using them, though I still have my reseller account access there. Dialup account plans included in reseller program is suprisingly very nice however. :D
Nonetheless, I can't pass judgement on Nocster specifically and their plans look very good. I couldn't justify spending money on a dedicated server and have support questions answered in 1-2 days.
Again, based on experience in the past with Burst and no hard feelings at all toward them.
Good luck with Nocster. :)

I can't personally comment on the SSH and adding Sub domains thing sorry I never tried that. I do know you can enable them through WHM but they are disabled by default. You can view all sub domains per each user account etc through WHM also.
Nephand 06-16-2002, 08:54 PM ah well, thanks nevertheless :)
phantasywork 06-16-2002, 08:58 PM I have submited a few ticket in the past few days and my intial one took 8 hrs but the other 3 I have submitted took less than 2 hrs to get a answer.
I think the manged thing is true to a extent , they manage the Network and Stuff like that and not on how to run the server and I even think it says so on the site. A true managed server would cost you 3-5 times more than what Nocster Charges.
swijaya0101 06-16-2002, 09:31 PM So far, I think they provide a good support ... They always reply to emails (normally around 3-5 hours) ... and their AIM is always on during weekdays.
I noticed they also make their AIM available for few hours on last Saturday. (but still prefer if they can make their AIM 24/7).
SoftWareRevue 06-16-2002, 10:22 PM I have been with Nocster for nearly two weeks now and could not be happier with the level of support and service I've received. What little support was needed has been fast, courteous, and knowledgeable. Based on my experience with them, I would highly recommend Nocster for anyone looking for great pricing, great speeds, and great service.
Sound happy? I am. :)
The only problem has been that the network has been so good, I've been busy adding more accounts to the server. I plan on gettting more servers soon. I suppose that means more work for me. But, I know that Nocster support will be there should I need them.
I have the utmost confidence that they will continue to provide the level of support and service I've received so far.
Now let me put in my 2 cents for Nocster as well :D
The server was setup in 25 hours (excluding 2-3 hours for order processing). I was about to scream and leave because this particular server was required within 24 hours due to a client requirement. Got it just on time :)
Thank you BurstNet and WHM for saving my day!! About 50 accounts were moved from another server within a few hours and everything is up and running smoothly. The customer is happy, I'm happy, BurstNet must be happy too :D
My first hardware related support request was closed within 1 hour and 51 minutes. way to go!!
They say they provide system administration within the price. That is little amazing for me. But I don't need it anyway...
Its just been 4 days. I hope all goes well
phantasywork 06-17-2002, 12:01 AM Yeah I will be getting more servers from them too once that need comes, like I said my first support ticket took about 8 hrs for a response but I had a tech Darren personally work with me for 8 hrs cause the HD crashed on my server and he made sure everything was in orginal condition as it was before the crash.
Now that's what I call customer support.
Since that time all my tickets have been responded too in 1- 2hrs :)
kreativ 06-17-2002, 04:50 AM I hear that hosts treat you nicer after they know you post on WHT. ;)

myhoward 06-17-2002, 09:07 PM i was trying to buy a server from the but when i emailed them to ask how many sites I can host if leasing cpanel, which is 19usd/month..well...no reply yet.....
This made me wonder shall I go ahead to take a try..
swijaya0101 06-17-2002, 09:11 PM did you email them during off-peak period? coz normally sales works only during office hours.
why dont you try the online chat with them?
mahinder 06-18-2002, 02:38 PM yeppy, my new server is setup right on time. i haven't created accounts yet but everthing appears to be working fine.
nocster a good start. :agree:
invense 06-18-2002, 06:56 PM just to add my 2 cents too... ive had good experience with nocster too. Jason was the one to help me out.
Despite all the criticism i have seen about burst.net on these forums, i must say that they have been nothing but excellent so far!
NixHosting 06-18-2002, 07:06 PM God you don't want to know my experience with Nocster. I will spare you any details.
They are awesome :)
Hm, I am totally new to this server-thing but we need such a solution and so I am just trying to find out which service is the best for us.
I am willing to learn how to work on such a machine but the question is: How hard is it to learn that and how long is it going to take you?
I'll need stuff like MySQL, PHP, CGI, Imagemagick (or GDLib), ... but I never installed something like this before and I basically have no idea how to do it. I'll also have to move some domains to that server, est up some pop3-email accounts (<- possible on that server, isnt it?), ...
So ... I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me whats the best service for me :)
And yes I know I am a Noob, but I have no choice ... we need it ;)
phantasywork 06-20-2002, 12:38 PM Nocster already has those services installed when you get your machine :)
