i recently pre-purchase .mobi names from GoDaddy, I got two of them and didn't get a few that I really wanted badly, and GoDaddy refunded the money immediately after confirming which names I got and which one I missed.

I have read many posts about them, asking people to stay away from them, I don't find them to be that scray actually.

Earlier (a year or so), they double charged me once, i wrote in, waited a week, the charge was refunded back.

Anyhow, I am never their reseller.

There is another factor to consider here as well. Size.

Companies like Go Daddy have a huge amount of customer. Even if they "play nice", there are bound to be customers who fall between the cracks.

If two companies have the same customer satisfaction, but one company has 1,000 customers and the other has 100,000, the big company will receive 100 times as many complaints and will have much more visible negative criticism online.

I'm not taking sides here, just trying to bring some perspective, even if it is somewhat simplified...

I think GoDaddy are a pretty good registrar. They have 2 downsides, imho. 1) Their control panel sucks, and 2) Their spam/phishing policy sucks. Other than that, I like them.

I have heard a ton of complaints like "Your competitor or a banned user can send Godaddy a fake email saying it was spam from you" and Godaddy cancelling their accounts right away. Then they blackmail you which is worse. I am moving all my domains away from Godaddy in 40 days as they don't allow me now.

I would by no means call it excellent....

I thought you'd moved your domains out of GD, RossH? I am talking about their new cp, not their old one. Which did suck. IMHO, ignoring the checkout for a moment, the control panel itself is excellent. I just can't decide if it's better than eNom's. It's better than everyone else (of course this is, imho) :)
