Hi,

I'm running a server on my internal network, just for developing PHP, ASP scripts & some small program's.

A nice control panel would be nice to control the server nice and neat. But I don't like to spend so many dollars for just my internal server...

Are there any nice free control panels?

I have installed plesk at the moment, but I can only create one user/domain/mailuser

I have installed Webmin, but that one isn't really a nice package for webcontrol...

Any tips? Ideas?

Thx in advance.

With kind regards,

Franck Nijhof

(Sorry for my bad english)

If there isn't a free control panel... how about this?!
Maybe an another idea.. Would there be a market for a free control panel software?

Would be a nice project for me to start one as one of the next projects....?!?!?!?!?

Are you sure?

:D

Dus any know how the plesk files are encrypted? I did not find any Zend stuff. So i'm pretty sure it isn't Zend Encoder....

AFAIK, It's there own encryption engine built into the PHP3 module used by the admin server.

What do you mean by I have installed Webmin, but that one isn't really a nice package for webcontrol...

The only reason why webmin is not suitable is if you are doing hosting and looking to delegate the control to your clients. But from the sound of your setup, that does not seem to be the case. In fact, the Apache module inside webmin is more powerful than any control panel out there.

Are you sure you have checked out webmin?

This SimpleCP seems to be a great thing :) Though it does not have a reseller level.

I am eager to see and test its released version.

it has a basic reseller system - one siteadmin (customer of the main company) can "own" another domain which means your customer can log into his clients control panel using his own username/password unlike in cobalts where you cannot do that.

We will be increasing the reseller level in the near future :) Thanks for the feedback

SimpleCP looks great to me, just one question: does it work with qmail?

No, not at this time :( Sorry - right now it works with standard sendmail

We are considering alternatives to sendmail, but at this time, we will be using sendmail :)

Thanks,

If you are looking at supporting qmail, a quick way to do this would be to write an interface to vpopmail

see http://www.inter7.com/vpopmail for info.
