You can't delete threads but you can edit them by clicking the "edit/delete" button above the new thread/post reply button under your post and next to the quote button.

hmmm... what does the "." mean that some people use? Does that mean move thread or something?

People use "." because you can't post a blank post, although if they were creative enough, they could do something like instead. :)

For whatever reason the forum administrator has decided that you are not allowed to delete your own posts here. It's a pain if you make a mistake and accidently post (I just did that earlier today - duh) but it's a management decision.

If I could remember why this was ever done here in the first place, I'd tell ya'. I can't recall. After a bit, you can't edit your posts (not even "." them), which I think was to deter members from posting garbage on the forum and flaming then removing it, but I can't tell you for sure. Something happened and it was set that way...

That's what I was thinking. Right now there is a timer, they can edit it within x minutes (don't know how long, have to look), but anywhooo.

There I was thinking folks used . to "subscribe" to a thread and be kept informed of future posts. :stickout

I think that deleting your post was disabled 'cuz of the Pogolinux fiasco. There was a huge thread about them that they had started (for some reason or another, I can't remember) and they decided to delete their post (the first one) and it deleted the whole thread. Everyone got upset about that and called for preventing people (non-Mods) from deleting threads. This had the side-affect of preventing people from deleting any post.

Damn, I've been here a while if I can remember that.....
