Well - I was really hoping for Vegas. In my opinion they need to try and set this thing to be located in the same spot each year. I might go to Chicago none-the-less just so I can have a beer with the_pm. Vegas just seems to be a nice after math to the all day butt kissing and hosting jargon going on. From what I heard - vegas was nice as well because you didn't have to worry about Taxi expense from place to place where in Chicago - that is going suck. Do you really want a bunch of drunk host providers wondering the streets of downtown Chicago? LOL.

I am excited about the pizza in chicago though, so idk.

Well - I might go just to show my support. I haven't ever been (was hoping for the vegas one) but chicago might be easier to sell to my wife. I mean - Vegas was going to be months and months of Honey - Do's to even begin to convince her that it is really about hosting and not endless nights of whore romping, gambling, and the killing of a few brain cells.

I agree, I solely made my decision to keep at least 1 server at EV1 was due to the partying with david lowry, all the other ev1ites are lame.

all in all as I mentioned in the other post - chicago should be an amazing backdrop for this convention and with it close enough to downtown - it should cater to the liquid diet. i tend on making it to this one. do you have no somebody to have a good time? HA! :(

I'll have to see what other WHT people are doing, and whether or not the other Vortex guys here want to go. I'm going to be in Vegas in June, so I guess it is good that it's going to be in a different US City as it gives me an excuse to go somewhere else rather than back to the same place within a few weeks.

Doesn't look like Vrigin fly direct to Chicago which is a bit of a pain though, although I might try and extend my stay in the US a few weeks then I can go direct to Chicago rather than back to the UK for a few days!

I am sure you have it - but not the kind I am talking about. I have tried mexican food up north and it's just the same. It's like New York Style Pizza in Houston - we got it - but it's nothing like New York Pizza.

There are some amazing Mexican restaurants around Chicago and the surrounding areas. About 20 mins south of Chicago in Kanakakee there is this place called El Campasino...the best Mexican cuisine EVER.

Well, there is a great chance I'll be there. I've heard so many good things about Chicago that I may just have to be there. There's a chance I'll be in the Boston area around that time so a trip over to Chicago won't be inconvenient.

Are you kidding!?!?!? Kankakee is more than 60 miles(read 1.5hrs drive usually) from Navy Pier. There have to be about 5328478 other Mexican restaurants inbetween.... and I can guarantee that at least 7 of them are better than anything in Kankakee.

As for HostingCon at Navy Pier? I think it is a good thing. It's better for people with spouses or kids that need a summer trip. Plenty to do on the Pier as well as downtown. Location way better than 2005. Oppourtunities abound for onsite/offsite activities, both sponsored and independent. The show will not feel dwarfed in the Navy Pier hall. And the best difference from Vegas is that you are not forced to be in a casino! (though if that is your thing, you are only about 30 minutes away from one).

Never once have I ever been to a real Chicago Mexican restaurant, I must just be missing every one of them. We're not counting the Chipotle on that map as Mexican are we? :P

I am really happy it's in Chicago I now can drive from Canada (8-10hrs). I wanted to go to Vegas and was just about to book a flight for myself and my other half (take vacation also) and she ended up in the hospital with Pulmonary Embolism (blood clots) in her lungs (she is in early 20s). Now we can't fly for awhile so this works out great !! :) Would have been fun to go to Vegas though

This whole Mexican food thing compared to texas is crazy. Unless you have been south and actually had some good ole' tex-mex - then you can't really compare. Granted - you have mexiccan food restraunts just like we have Chicago style pizza - but it's just not the same. I'll stand corrected to anyone who wants to introduce me to a place they feel is comparable to tex-mex and if so - i'll buy them a beer. If its superb - maybe dinner too.

Just what I asked for! Chicago is probably the best "big city" in the USA ... such friendly people there. I go several times a year, so it shouldn't be difficult for me to get up there for the event. Sounds great!

Now I got to find what bus takes you to Navy Pier because if you park at navy pier it is $10 an hour. Walking a mile one way from the nearest parking expect the piers parking isn't an option for most people either.

Well, I liked Vegas, but if it wasn't going back there, I was hoping STL or ALB.

Depending on the cost and how much hotel will cost is going to matter more this time. I spent more at Vegas because I spent extra time having fun after the Con. We will see still a lot of time for pricing.

Wicker Park is Chicago's most recent trendy neighborhood. Lots of nightlife, restaurants, bars/clubs etc... The place Rman suggested is all of 1 block away from the subway, though is not really in the heart of wicker park, the main wicker park area is a brisk 10 minute walk, or a $5 cab ride away. There is a place called "Four" right by the Wicker Park Apartments, which is fun palce to go. Anyway, this place would be a good alternative to staying in a pricey downtown hotel.

For those who want to take a visit to the Planetarium, Shed Aquarium, Field Museum use the water taxi. The water taxi tickets are good all day and a great way to get around. Of course walking from Navy Pier to the attractions is only 30 to 40 minute walk.

FYI, arguably the best Mexican restaurant in the U.S. is in Chicago, Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill / Topolobampo. I can't speak for all of Texas, but when I was a consultant I spent a year in both Dallas and Houston, and Frontera Grill / Tobolobampo was easily better than any Mexican restaurant I ate at in either of those cities.

I am looking forward to this years HostingCon. I really hope to meet many people that I have had the pleasure of talking with on WHT - just hopefully not too many I have annoyed. (that could be a lot)

I'm actually pulling out my penny jars now to begin counting for the airfare and hotel cost. I always said - "where there is a hole in someone's pocket, there is a way"

While Chicago is much closer to where I am, I am not sure that I will be going.

If it was in Vegas, I would be there.

I'm glad it is in Chicago, and might actually attend this year. Vegas is overated to me, I'm not much into gambleing/glitz/glamour and prefer what Chicago has to offer.

People coming in from out of town have alot more real culture to see and experience in the city of Chicago. Not to mention some of the best architecture in the world.

I'm on the fence about attending. I'd love to see Chi-town and it seems like Hostingcon would be good, but I don't know if I can fit it in my July schedule.

I don't think I'd be able to pull a turn-around time of a couple days before I left for Africa immediately after hostingcon.
