View Full Version : Lpanel - I think I am done.
Dave - Just199 10-02-2006, 09:58 AM I have had both good service and bad service from lpanel but I think that I have just about hit my limit.
On 9/30/06 our software stopped allowing clients to signup, well thats when I found out about it god knows how long this has been going on and how many sales we have lost from the issue.
When our customers attempt to signup they are presented with "Security Violation, Order Total Modified (BANKWIRE)" instead of a payment page.
I understand that things happen and software updates dont always go as expected but this is a major issue and lpanel has failed to respond to it for 3 days.
I think my sorted love affair with lpanel is over, I just dont trust them any longer.
This is a mission critical application, if my customers get an error on signup how does that make me look as a hosting provider?
Now I am looking for a new solution, I liked the way that lpanel worked.. when it worked.
I am now looking for a new solution
I need a billing solution that supports the following|
Needs:
Cpanel
2checkout
Authorize.net
Enom
automated signup
members section
wants:
Plesk
Ensim
Dave - Just199 10-02-2006, 11:34 AM Lpanel has responded to my ticket.
In general options / There is a new feature "Use Template Verification Over:" this value will default a template file as the the client completes the order. This is ment for large orders that require a custom template or PDF contract to be attached with an order to better manage and capture a legal order form with signature via post signup. In your case all I had to do was set a value of say $1000 which is beyond any plan you offer. You can set this to $999999 to avoid ever triggering that WIRE message.
Limapoint 10-03-2006, 01:00 AM Interesting information....
iHubNet 10-03-2006, 01:37 PM Actually we had used about 1 year.. and it was just fiasco all the time... did not functioned good all the time.. always some problem and I had to deal with it.. such as bugs..and cron things.. I hope they get better..
by the way, why you need 2CO and authorize.net? both are for credit card..
jerett 10-03-2006, 01:45 PM I would look into demoing the following:
AWBS.com
ModernBill.com
Ubersmith.com
Just some food for though. Uber is a great product but they won't support PHP5. They are waiting for 6.
Oh - and in my opinion - I think LPanel sucks. It is too glitchy and you begin to loose trust in it. There were times we were loosing track of payments being recieved and being sent as well as signups.
Wish you the best.
shockuk 10-03-2006, 02:10 PM You forgot ClientExec ;)
Pretty damn good software, and inexpensive too. Customers (and staff) love it's interface.
jerett 10-03-2006, 02:13 PM CE doesn't have instant setup which I think he is looking for. "automated setup". If not - then yes - i fully agree CE is tops. (actually what we use ;) )
shockuk 10-03-2006, 03:15 PM CE does have full automated setup with CPanel / Interworx / Plesk / DirectAdmin. We're currently using it right now ;)
It's pretty full on, CE also supports CPanel reseller auto-creation (although we personally don't provide for resellers). It even supports automatic creation via shell if you don't have a CP (although admittedly haven't used that feature either).
jerett 10-03-2006, 03:27 PM I guess it helps to look around some. I never noticed because I don't want my accounts instantly activated so I never noticed. Thanks for the update on that though Shockuk.
Dave - Just199 10-03-2006, 04:04 PM I have been thinking about client exec but I loath the transition process..
Does clientexec work with 2checkout?
BTW We have current 2checkout customers and are thinking of migrating to authorize.net
Also does it have a Members section with a support ticket system..
I really need to just install a demo and see for myself but it's easier to ask the guys that use it.
shockuk 10-03-2006, 04:41 PM Yup, it supports 2CO and it does have an integrated support ticket system, with special priviliaged staff accounts and email piping, everything you would expect really. Check out the online demo at http://demo.clientexec.com/

and it also supports google checkout, multi currency, non hosting products, addons, dedicated servers, hosting addons and much much more :-)
Dave - Just199 10-03-2006, 09:57 PM How does it handle automatic recuring billing?
There really isn't much information on their website.
1. Does it support 2checkout subscriptions?
2. when using a merchant account like Authorize.net or CDG does it automatically bill monthly without requiring the clients to interact with it?
Dave - Just199 10-04-2006, 10:13 AM I cannot find a demo download
Looks like they dont let you install on your own server for testing
shockuk 10-04-2006, 02:28 PM Yeah, they don't offer a demo download- but it's so cheap you might aswell just pay for a month lol. Check out the link in Wise's signature, that's where we purchased ClientExec from.
Activex147 10-04-2006, 02:59 PM i like it a lot
Dave - Just199 10-04-2006, 04:14 PM Ok so I have clientexec installed and for the most part configured...
I decided to take a look at Google checkout..
Nice rates etc...
Does clientexec support automatic recurring payments with google checkout?
I asked clientexec and they said because googlecheckout is a merchant processor the creditcard is stored in CE and it will re-bill but I have been unable to reproduce that situation in my testing.
Is anyone else using google checkout with CE and recurring payments?

No 2CO Subscriptions is not supported.
and yes any autopayment processor is handled admin side by batching, you simply enter the passphrase used to encrypt the card details in the db and ce handles the rest.
-------
Google Checkout being a 3PP is non-autopayment in the current stages (within ce). If google checkout is indeed offerring a subscriptions service similar to how paypal works I'm sure it'll be looked into and possibly supported in a future version (ce has been good about getting new features in whenever permissible).
Basically you can have customers auto-billed using the auto biller service within clientexec (for non-autopayment billing types). However customers still have to login to pay the invoice of course.
Dave - Just199 10-06-2006, 02:26 PM It says it supports 2checkout..
Does it only support 1 time purchases?
I really need an automated solution, I dont want to chase people around all the time trying to get them to go make a payment.
how about cdgcommerce?
Does it support automated payments with cdg?
iHubNet 10-06-2006, 02:34 PM Actually Lpanel does kind of recurring, but you need to setup packages/plan at 2CO, and once client order package and lpanel will jump to that package/plan ID at 2CO and it will be recurred, but it does not work if package at lpanel is customizabled... for example, package + dedicated IP during ordering, it will not be recurring at 2Co. Only works when you define product ID at 2CO...
Yes, it works with authorize.net which should work with cdgcommerce merchant account.
Thanks
Dave - Just199 10-06-2006, 03:45 PM I ahve been using 2Co + lpanel for a long time now, I was reffering to ClientExec
sorry
Shrapnet|Mike 10-07-2006, 08:35 AM Clientexec only supports one time payments with 2CO. Using a merchant account with CDGCommerce will allow you to charge your customers credit cards automatically each month.
Dave - Just199 10-07-2006, 11:42 AM Thanks mike that is what I was looking for.
Will sign up with CDG today..
I wish google checkout supported automatic recurring payments. Also when I asked CE about their google checkout integration they told me that it is a merchant account so it will be automated however this is not the case. I charged a couple of test transactions and the only automation is the invoicing, not charging the customers..
Almost done with the site too www.just199.com this is our new hosting venture, the 1.99 price is why we are taking such a strong look at other solutions, 2Co's charges are too much for this new company.
iHubNet 10-07-2006, 11:49 AM What's matter? just use CC gateway & Paypal.. and that's enough.. CC will be recurred anyway by billing system and Paypal could be same..
i have setup MB 4.4 with gateway & paypal and working great.
Thanks
Dave - Just199 10-07-2006, 11:52 AM Which CC gateway are you using?
mattcomp 10-11-2006, 05:28 PM goto moderngigabyte's site and click on modern authorize, where you can get a bluepay 2.0 account for 50 dollars one time fee, and no monthly fees. It works great with both modernbill, and most other billing software.
Dave - Just199 12-07-2006, 09:57 PM just an update as posted on my blog www.dhblog.com
After fighting with Lpanel for months and months trying to deal with the constant bug fixes and incomplete features I decided to move to another platform.
After searching through the various options (read WHM autopilot, Modern bill, Drams, etc.) I decided to give Clientexec a shot at running our new hosting venture www.just199.com. This was an easy integration due to the fact that Just199 is a new hosting venture for us and there was no client information to migrate.
After installing CE I was greeted with a user friendly interface that was clean and easy to manage. The user control panel is the exact same interface as the administration control panel which is a nice feature. I often found myself logging into Lpanel as a user while on a technical support call because I did not use the user interface enough to remember which buttons end users needed to press in order to check their invoices or enter a support ticket.
Because this is a new hosting venture we decided to move away from 2checkout and obtain a real merchant account with CDG commerce utilizing authorize.net for a payment gateway. Establishing this account was a long grueling process with red tape all over the place, however now that we have completed this process we couldn’t be happier with the service.
After signing up a few customers I noticed that they were using the new members center on their own without any prodding from the technical staff. With Lpanel we basically had to beg our customers to utilize the members center because it was so cumbersome.
Today Clientexec released an upgrade with a hefty list of changes and enhancements that were requested by the user base. Wait a second! A company that will make changes to their software when their customers ask for it? The list of changes was impressive, over 30 items were cataloged changed and tested for compatibility before rolling the upgrade to their customers. Lpanels releases caused a critical issue on a constant basis so with an awful feeling in the bottom of my stomach (as usual) I proceed to upgrade our back end software package.
Here is the process:
Backup config.php, the uploads directory and any custom logos.
upload the new version over the old version
run install.php and click Upgrade
DONE!
This upgrade went so smooth that I checked 3 times to make sure that it actually did upgrade. All the new features are running and working properly which is pretty impressive.
Clientexec has all the features that we want and none of the useless fluff that their competitors are using as marketing tools.
My next task is to migrate www.hostedhere.net (our core hosting company) to Clientexec which will put my mind at ease, for once.
valentin_nils 12-07-2006, 11:59 PM Sounds nice. I also was once an lpanel customer. I was put off by their unmotivated and unannounced network managed.
I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who was p***ed how they treat things.
Seems like some poeple / companies prefer to learn things the hard way. ;-)
Dave - Just199 03-26-2007, 02:41 PM DONE!~!!
So we have moved both our hosting companies to Client Exec and my blood preasure has dropped considerably. It took a while but we expected it to. We did not have any issues but that is because we did not try to migrate everything over a weekend.
HE/LW-Sam 03-27-2007, 10:17 AM I have used Lpanel a couple of times. Didnt like it either.
So far WHMCS is the best one i used :D
jerett 04-27-2007, 09:59 AM CE is a fantastic product. I am glad you have found a new billing home. Good luck with all your hosting needs.
