I purchased a domain from someone who used 1coms.com to register their network with. I was instructed by the seller to open an account there to make a convienent transfer of the two domains in question. The domains were transfered to my account approx three weeks ago.


Yesterday I found out the domains were transfered out of my account without my knowledge or authorization back to the previous owner. I contacted 1coms who told me that they take direction from the registered contact of the domain being the previous owner who paid to have the domain renewed last. But what I don't understand is shouldn't the information I provided when I opened up my account with 1coms been changed from the previous owner to my information automatically when the domains were transfered. ?


I am completely new at this I admit, but feel 1coms is not acting properly. I feel I am being Defrauded with this situation but have registed and come here to hear from you all on this and to get advise. I understand the previous owner has a close relationship with 1coms which is a concern to me.


I welcome your input and advise on what I should do next.

1coms.com appears to be an enom reseller. I forgot the specifics, but resellers can
"almost easily" transfer a domain name from one reseller account to another.

Problem is, this is a potential legal issue you're dealing with. For such, seek legal
advice.

You should have set the registrant details to your own right away... they didnt do anything wrong taking instruction from the registrant as to what to do with the domain, as far as anything official goes, he was the owner.

First off, remember, lock your domains from transfer. Even so, I am not familiar with how transfers between eNom resellers go about, but if issues arise with your hosting company, get on the phone or trouble tickets, and request them to reverse said actions immediately. Then take further action from there. My best suggestion in the future is to get your domain seperate from your hosting, and from a well known registrar. That away, you lack the trouble that arises dealing with resellers who may be less than ethical.

I am new at this and thought that when the domains in question were transfered they would be updated to the information I provided with the account I open at 1coms.



I didn't know anything about locking domains but do now unfortunately. I thought since they were transfered to my account that they could not just vanish without my knowledge or permission like this.



I also understand that when domains are transfered an approval request is sent to both the registrant and the administrative contact so that the person who has the domain then can approved the transfer but that was three weeks ago and believe if there was a problem it should have been addressed back then not now. ?

The key though is, this was an inter-registrar transfer between resellers, as far as you have told us. Therefore, they can skip out any paperwork that is required, and easily edit the domain record without any paperwork being filed. It seems eNom is quite loose on letting domains be transferred, as they let these resellers transfer them without a snap. Little worrying dont you say?

Yes it is very worrying as I can only look at it from a logical point. I paid for something, had it transfered to me, then three weeks later it just disappears without my knowledge so consequently the saler has my funds plus the domains. To me it feels like Fraud or theft. Even if the saler didn't have permission from another partner as 1coms says how do I know if this is not some sort of scam being played out on me from the sellers. They only have to plan to make a sale of domain(s) with aquiring funds then later tell their supplier it was done without the rightful permission so return the domains. I am not saying that has occured just wondering what prevents that from happening if a domain transfer can be reversed three weeks later like this.



Yes as far as I know this was an inter-registrar transfer at 1coms were I opened up an account at the request of the saler who said it would be easy to transfer the domains. I had no way of knowing this could happen three weeks later and by the sounds of it from the communications I received from 1coms it could have happened even months later but seems very wrong to me.

next i can say is contact the bank and report fraud.
