How are they for reselling?

try to shop around,ipower uses plesk software which is really cumbersome!

Do you have a web site hosted with them?

I have never had a reseller account there but one of my webhosting clients had her site there when I started working on it. Site was infected by a virus so that every PC visitor was infected, took them days to sort it out, billing/tech support/customer service all seemed extremely slow to respond to this and other issues, requiring numerous prompts to do what they said they'd do, their record keeping did not seem of the best.

I like the way their reseller program works. I believe it is free to join and it is based on the number of accounts you have with them. The more you have the cheaper your renewals and new accounts would be.
So unlike the other hosts where you pay a flat rate and you may not use the account to your full advantage, with iPowerWeb you are able to kind of pay as you go. They also have a special support section for their resellers which was very helpful.

I have been using Ipower since they started reselling. More storage, bandwith and less expensive. I have had no issues with customer service. I wish they offered hostgators billing software and helpdesk software though.

stay away, very far away.. i haven't experienced such imcompetance in a support staff since i last called the cable company... all i have with them is a bunch of domains, but i know a couple folks who use them for hosting and it's not been pretty. and, at 50/750 for as low as 6.95/mo, you know they're grossly overselling. (i'd be interested in hearing from someone who's tried to use all those resources on a site hosted there).

as far as reselling.. the best wholesale rate you get from them is about 2 bucks less than their retail rate (at a qty of 11+).. hard to compete with your own provider unless you don't mind slim margins... which is also the biggest drawback of godaddy's reseller program (that, and the canned web site that looks just like their own). the ideal reseller provider, imho, would ONLY provide services to resellers and not compete against their own customers.

the only thing ipower is good for is their ocassional really-cheap domain registrations, and then transfer them away before they come due again. the last couple batches i got was about 3 bucks a pop.

ok. maybe i am the exception here. I havent experienced anything negative in years. You make a good ponit about competing with your own provider. but even at 6.95 a month its better than the 24.95 that hostgator gets for less bandwith and less storage. Who would you recommend then?

even though i've not had any problems with them, or godaddy for that matter, i still steer folks away from.. unless "cheap" is all they want and there's no way to convince them that shopping on price alone is a bad idea.

Who would you recommend then? that, my friend, is the ultimate question.. unfortunately, the answer is NOT 42. as soon as i find a new one, and receive no client complaints for awhile, i'll let you know.

You make a good ponit about competing with your own provider this is the the one thing that most reseller providers do, compete against their own resellers; usually at a lower rate too. there is a definate shortage in reseller hosts who don't do "retail"...
