RackMy.com 06-14-2002, 05:50 AM Not sure about your questions, which streaming media are you talking about? nba2003 06-14-2002, 05:53 AM streaming real a/v no1v2 06-14-2002, 09:25 AM I'm not sure what you mean by function...I currently sell shoutcast (http://www.shoutcast.com/) streaming audio servers, which are mostly used for music. If you want some more info on that I could probably help you out. akashik 06-14-2002, 09:27 AM so media streams... seriously :) For the most part real audio/video will stream quite easily with some juggling. The way to do it for http streaming is to have your .rm files all stacked somewhere out of the way in a folder. You then open a .txt file and add a link to the .rm file itself, then save it as a .ram file. From the website you link to the .ram file - not the actual .rm file (confused yet?) Real Media in a stroke of idiocy a few years ago came up with this idea for some reason and as far as I know haven't changed it. If you link directly to the .rm file it'll try to download first. You can go ahead and install Real Server, but for all intents and purposes it's not really required unless you're looking at some serious online sound and video. Greg Moore no. ic.THX! akashik 06-14-2002, 10:11 AM oh I almost forgot, regarding the link in the .ram file. It should be in this format: pnm://your_domain.com/folder/realfile.rm That *should* work almost everywhere. Oddly enough we just got a signup yesterday from someone who's host had changed it so you can't stream media, even with the above system - odd. As for the confusion remark, it confused the heck out of me the first time I had to do it. :) Greg Moore nba2003 06-14-2002, 11:21 AM THX! |
