View Full Version : Rfhost.com Down ?
eddy2099 06-13-2002, 09:34 PM I have a strange problem with Rfhost.com site.
I am able to access my emails via Eudora hosted there but the web server seems down and when I tried to update my website via ftp, I keep getting 'Transfer Aborted. Out of Disk Space'.
I know I have about 195mb free allocated space on the site. Is there any other explanation for this problem, apart from just being purely out of harddisk space.
Rfhost.com and my sites on it are probably hosted on Rackshack and I understand that a couple of days ago, Rackshack suffered from a DoS attack. Could the downed rfhost.com and the out of disk space issue be a repurcussion of this DoS attack ?
I have been on Rfhost.com for less than q month but during that stage, it seems to be down about 4 to 5 times and usually for extended periods.
Could someone offer an explanation ? Thanks. I just want to know what I can do to prevent all these from occurring again. It is definitely hurting my business.

Aussie Bob 06-13-2002, 10:17 PM Nothing coming up from Australia too. Hope all is ok with the Rfhost.com owner etc.
Selpaw 06-13-2002, 10:36 PM I am having no problem viewing http://www.rfhost.com/. I am located in Australia.
eddy2099 06-13-2002, 10:57 PM Well, I hope that it is just a temporary problem only. I had to have to move again and again. It seems that I have been doing that once every few months.
I dropped Ronan an email a couple hours ago and hope that the problem is quickly resolved.
Just spent time having my programs listed on the each engines and shareware sites and now the site is down. Definitely not good for business.

Selpaw 06-13-2002, 11:14 PM Maybe its a routing issue? It is still working here.....
sonichost 06-13-2002, 11:30 PM Seems to be working fine from here also.
Nice, pretty 31ms ping times all the way down through Verio.
Hang in there!
eddy2099 06-13-2002, 11:36 PM Okie, could be a routing problem. But does routing relates web access only ? I can actually receive my emails and ftp to my site.
Probably the ftp site being out of space is an unrelated issue. I did remove some files which the ftp server allows but I am unable to upload any files. I thought that when I cleared some files, I will get some spare space.
I will wait for an official response.
Thanks again for checking.

sonichost 06-13-2002, 11:45 PM Could be.
But it sounds more like a Apache problem, since it seems to be on and off. <--- Off for me at the moment.
eddy2099 06-14-2002, 01:10 AM I just checked. My sites are finally back up again. :) :)
And the FTP Out of Space issue is also fixed.
eddy2099 06-14-2002, 10:23 PM Bob,
I sure hope that Ronan and Rfhost is okay. I believe his last post here was on June 12th.
I wrote to him several times yesterday but still have not received any email from him as yet.
I checked and he has not been online on his website and the problem is that when I took a look at his Order page at http://www.rfhost.com/order/ and I got a whole lot of SQL and Apache errors.
I sure hope everything is okay. I hate to see business fail.

p1net 06-17-2002, 06:55 AM I apologize to all our customers for the problems with our server. Due to personal issues I have had to leave the country to visit a friend. As far as I can tell the server is now stable. I will be back home In a few weeks and I will refund all those who terminated their accounts. I am truly sorry for all the trouble this has caused. One thing I have to recommend is not to buy Rackshack servers. :(
Aussie Bob 06-17-2002, 07:29 AM Sorry to hear of your situation, Ronan. Hope it all works out for you. When it rains, it usually pours. :)
eddy2099 06-24-2002, 07:14 PM It is sad news yet again. :bawling: :bawling:
I just browse over to Rfhost.com website and found that they are no longer in business. A couple of days ago, I had the recurring charges cancelled for me.
How stable is Rackshack anyway ?
Just in case their server fails completely, this is their website messageDue to a complete hardrive failure rfhost.com is no longer in business. Our Clients will be refunded as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvience caused. All recurring billing has been stopped and any further refunds will be provided in the coming weeks.
