Okay people. I have come across one of the best live chat software scripts out there that is free. This bad boy is tight.

Visitors to your site will see a CALL ME NOW button on your website. If the visitor clicks on it, they are asked to enter their phone number. The ChatStat IM client will then dial the end users phone number over the internet using SKYPE CONNECT VoIP (Voice Over IP) and connect the call. When the "Call Me Now" user answers the phone, the web visitor and the operator will be connected and can proceed with a sale or support call.

ChatStat gives you the ability to conduct operator or visitor initiated live chat with your website’s visitors. ChatStat comes with completely FREE unlimited live chat for five operator seats per site, and you can have as many sites as you wish at no additional charge.

Im definately impressed with it so far, still testing it internally, but so far so good. Definately still beta, but it looks like its going to be great once it hits stable. Cant wait!

Yes I agree. I think for free - its the best out there and might be a big contender to others as well. The nice thing is nothing sits on your server.

Not a good start, its new so no information around about problems. Anyone else had this problem?

I definately didnt get that error. Contact their live chat support if your having issues. They were pretty helpful to be last night when i had questions.

Yea they are very helpful. The program only runs on Windows. The install worked perfectly for me. Review their manual for additional support.

I sent them an email. Probably just a setting on my computer. It will be one of those things when you find/fix it its something really simple.

For the record - I don't want people to think I am associated with ChatStat. I just found the program - tried it - and thought others that enjoy testing out new things would enjoy it as well. Not to mention it is yet another alternative to the many chat scripts out there - and this one is a powerful free one that does't look cheap.

The program only runs on Windows.
In addition to Windows, the ChatStat software requires the .Net 2.0 framework. The application installer will install .Net for you if you give it the ok.

I think that now when someone ask what software to use with their systems, it would be a safe bet that we can include ChatStat in the list of providers. Nick - it is really great that you have taken the time to join the thread. WHT is a great place to not only learn but to get some serious beta testing feedback on your product. Once your post count climbs - you might see about listing your software in the related offers and request area. You would get some serious beta testers from there I am sure.

Watched it, offered me no help :(. Just made me wish I could install this even more. The person I spoke to on your site said they would pass it on to the developer.

I would list ChatStat with an asterik. It has serious serious potential but it is still quite Beta and rough around the edges.

That said, as a former software engineer myself, I gotta say that I'm impressed. The core parts of the system seem pretty solid. The problems I've seen are in the more periphereal features. It's not suitable for us right now but I can definitely see us adopting it in the future.

I appreciate your comment and will be the first to admit that we are still working out some kinks.

As you might have read above, we are going to officially release once we get these final issues worked out.

I have several full time programmers and artists only working on stabilization right now. Nothing else. These rough edges and bugs are being fixed as we speak and our software will be ready by release.

We have focused only on making this current release rock solid. Only when that is done, will we pick up and add new features.

Please help us by using the software. We are literally sitting here waiting to hear from you to fix and improve. We are releasing patched updates that automatically update your chatstat client about every four days.

We are also currently seeking investment, if you know anybody that is interested.

Ok, I think I have your problem fixed. Please try this.

First, please make sure you have Microsoft .NET 2.x installed.

To make sure you have it installed, go to your CONTROL PANEL> ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS> and scroll to the bottom and look for an entry that says:

MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0

If it is not installed, here is the link you need to get it.

Please UNINSTALL CHATSTAT and reboot your computer.

Does it cost money to use the VOIP to call back the visitors? I thought there was a charge for calling land line numbers?

Skype is completely free until the end of this year. Also, the use of the call back feature is currently also free. So yes, right now its totally free.

We will begin charging the FOD (Feature on Demand) price to use this as soon as we have a billing system completed. Because the billing system is dead last on our list, it may be a while before you get charged to use SKYPE CALL BACK. :D

Tried it out. The whole system is really really sluggish. If they get this thing working smooth with all the features shown in their demo, it'll be a huge hit!

There is a known issue we are resolving right now that solves this sluggish behavior. We will have it fixed before press release next week.

The slow down is caused by the fact that we currently have all IMS clumped into one thread.

Basically, we are separating each different IM clients into its own thread, so that they work independently of each other. Further, we are separating the external IM system threads from the internal Operator to Web Visitor thread and Operator to Operator threads.

This is the known cause for the slow down. We should have seen this comming but did not. Not to worry... its being fixed.


It is not a matter of "IF they get it working", but rather how many days and hours will it take.
This is my third endeavor now. I also founded PRICE.COM and MONSTERCOMMERCE.COM. Perhaps you might have heard of these companies.
So please rest assured, I intend to take this software all the way. It will not languish in bugs or grow stale. We plan to fix and improve daily.

I think that your on to a great thing here Nick and with the direction you are going - this could very well become the top chat script available for the price : feature ratio. I look forward to the release.

I know that you have in place now where we can setup as many departments as we want and users etc because the billing isn't yet established. Will this effect users / beta testers once the final is released and billing begins? Or will they sort of be grandfathered in?

If your seeing a slow down, I cant imagine why. I just checked our server and the logs show no slowdowns I can see. Nor have I ever seen a delay loading on any site. What country are you in?


Ok, the second answer may solve both problems for you. We are currently adding the ability for you to host your OWN chat icon graphics.

That means that all you have to do is UPLOAD the chat images to your server, and then name the url in our setup.

That will solve any latency issues you may be having, as well as allow you to change your icons.

We are also putting up a library of possible chat icons right now. Professionally designed of course.

as of right now, we have just released the multi-threaded IM PATCH.

it is MUCH FASTER now, please give it a try.

If you log in to CHATSTAT , give it a sec, and it will autodetect the new version and update itself. after chatstat restarts, its nearly INSTANT across the board.

Nice work on fixing things guys. The application seems much quicker now. Still some delay problems with the web chat side, but I'm sure you guys will fix them too.

Its server side. Its a memory leak. We are hunting it down now.

Our server is getting pounded with traffic... an unexpectedly large amount.

Um, maybe im reading things wrong, but im pretty sure its more a chat room (irc style) experience, not a live support client like what were talking about here or comparing too. Its also alpha, not beta, huge difference.

Glad I came across here and visited chatstat website. I was interested to try chatstat to see if its good or not. It wasn't hard to set up!! After played with chatstat, it is absolute great!! Nick (ceo) is a nice person too, had a chat with him personally. Chatstat is no longer beta and some bugs need to fix.

There are none of best free live chat scripts!! Way to go Chatstat :) And the goody feature on demand.

ok , here is our status...

EDITABLE ICONS is comming up over the weekend.


Today we are optimizing operator to operator chat, so you may see yourself get logged out and in. If this happens, dont worry. :eek:

By the way, our new chat engine is in, and it is ALOT FASTER.

We are still dealing with the Italy connection failure with our hosting provider too!

This is one of the first live chat providers that has actually taken a proactive approach to their customers.
