I currently have a domain name with Enoms, it will expired in July soon, I want to renew it, but I would like to move it to a cheaper registrar (Name Cheap), do I need to do the transfer to another vendor now? Is is too late already? Does a transfer cost money? I will appreciate any advice. Thank you.

You should do the transfer before it expires. By transfering the domain, you effectively increase the duration of your lease on it by one year, so as long as you transfer before it expires you'll not lose any time.

if it expires in july, then you should be able to transfer the name safely to namecheap.

isn't namecheap an enom reseller? You can't transfer to namecheap because your domain name is already with enom.

Are you absolutely sure about this?
I have transferred names from powerpipe(enom based) to my own enom reseller account with no problem.
