Hi !
Well, I've been reading this forum for about 2 months and I've got a lot of informations here, but I still have some doubts.
I'm planning to open a reseller business by the end of this year, but I wanna do an annual investiment and I only have 700 reais (about 305 dollars).
I want 10gb of space and 200gb of bandwidth.
Am I asking too much ?

Hope that what I wrote is clear ... If it's not, please, ask me to rewrite ;D
Thanks !

That means you are looking at spending $25.42 a month.

You really cannot expect to get a reseller account for 10gb webspace and 200gb bandwidth at that price.

You need to halve your requirements. You are only just starting out anyway, so you don't need that much space...

And one final tip: don't pay yearly!

Good luck :)

Why not paying yearly ?

If you dont like the host, you would be stuck for a year.

Not asking to for too much????
10gb webspace, 200gb bandwidth for $25 a month sounds reasonable to you?!

That is way too much for that price, the op won't get a decent provider for that price...

stealthdevil (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=45789) , yes that is right to me because she never mentioned how many sites she wants to host under that reseller for all i know someone can offer 10 sites to be hosted on that space.
and she didnt include fantastico or any sort of support.

Considering those points id say she could

Ok, so no yearly payment.
The problem is that I'm going to pay in dollars, but I will recieve from my clients in reais. And, to have a competitive price I would need more or less this price.
And I still have to do an investiment in a domain reseller too.
I really would like to pay in reais, but servers here are not as good.

I dont pay attention much to dollars or reais. We have many customers in Vietnam, and they pay us by VND. Meanwhile we pay for colo fee in dollars. You can have your prices in dollars, and convert to reais by applying current exchange rate.

for your requirements, I think $25/month for 10GB disk space and 200GB transfer is too much. You might have good time, but it sounds to me that's overselling

about the annually payment. nothing wrong if you go with a stable-proven provider. Dont choose kiddie host, then you will be fine :)

But I'm just afraid that it becomes expensive for my future clients.

So now I'm going to search a server that I could pay for it.

Hi,

It really depends on how much investment you want to put into your hosting business, if you want to do this as a part time job or as a side project, a VPS or Reseller account is very sufficient. Just make sure you do your research and pick the right provider before signing up.

Cheers

Ok !

But ... I'm looking for a provider who has a plan with 10 gb of space and 200gb of bw. But I can't find it ... 5gb - 100gb is also acceptable. Or any that for each 1gb of space, has 10gb of bw. Not looking for the price now. Anyone can sugest me one ?

Hey their just look for a reliable professional company and see what pre made packages they already have!

Hi Milena,

If you are only starting off why do you want that much space/bandwidth? I think you would be best off starting with smaller plan, you wont be limited by this in any way. just means that once your business outgrows your small plan you contact your host and upgrade your plan any host will be glad to do this for you.

You should aim to always have a enough bandwidth/space available to cover double your biggest plan (maybe enough for one big plan, depending on how fast you are selling). the more unused space/bandwidth you have the lower your profits and higher your costs.

Well ... I've been searching a few providers and It's hard to find any with this proportion: for each 1gb of space, 20gb of bw.
And one thing that I really care is security ... My site had been hacked once and it's really not a good thing :T

Anyone could suggest me any provider ?

Can you provide more information on how your site has been hacked? We can provide guidance for a good web host, but your site may still be vulnerable depending upon your configuration / scripts.

The site that was hacked was balloondesign.net/foto ... There was a 4images gallery ... I guess that the version was 1.72 ... something like this.
The page that the hacker put is still there ...
