I am currently looking into becoming a reseller and I have been looking around for options. I'm currently using Communitech as a regular virtual host and they actually perfect and I have had no problmes. However, they have a lot of bad publicity and I thnk it would be better to move. Now once my account's time is up, I'm going to become a reseller and I'm looking for a type of reseller along the lines of Communitech.net and Site5.com. They have what I'm looking for as in CGI, PHP, high bandwidth, low prices etc. The only problem with the two is bad publicity that I have been getting from them. Does any of you know of any hosting services that are similar to what these have to offer at these prices? Thanks for any help you can offer me on the matter.

I think a lot of the bad publicity surrounding Communitech.net was because they turned off people's websites for using too much bandwidth (without notice, I believe), even though they advertised "unlimited" bandwidth. They've since discontinued the unlimited thing (I think they now offer 25 gigs/month bandwidth, which is quite generous). Maybe they've learned from their mistakes?

I'm a reseller with http://wizardshosting.com . I don't think Carlos has put up the reseller pages yet so you'll probably need to chat with or e-mail him. Everything has been very very good and I am very pleased with what he's been doing on the support end, although he's been very busy lately with the hosting of this board and other issues. I think you will be very pleased. Try to catch his Human click chat online and talk to him. I usually see him on there around 10PM to Midnight every night.

You say yourself that you're satisfied with communitech. Why move. Just because some ppl don't like them does not mean that they're not right for you. Well, that of course your choice.

I have also heard good things about http://www.wizardshosting.com

Well I know why he wants to move I think. When you are a reseller, you want to feel comfortable with your provider and I don't think he's all that comfortable. I was looking at reselling at one time and realized that you are only as good as your upsteam (so to speak).

If you want to test the waters, choose another host and create a 'special' package (with the features of the new provider) and see how it goes.

Chicken, you are pretty correct. I have been a reseller with 2 other companies since 1999. I'm not going to flame them so there isn't a need to post who they are. The first company I didn't like after a year and a half of bad support and some ignored E-mails. I decided to move 2 months before the end of the billing as to give me enough time to search and find another. Well, I happened on to this other company after a 5 days of hard searching. A few weeks went by and well the story ended without an e-mail nada nothing except a webpage that said all accounts will be closed in 1 week. I guess I was lucky because I visit my hosts pages often, I seen some others on here who wasn't so lucky and had a mess to deal with. So I had a pretty easy time with getting a new host because I already did the weeks worth of searching and questions a few weeks back. If your serious about your customers and your business as a reseller then you should always have a backup plan or host and even a back-up to them because if something happens your going to have some very mad unhappy people.

Reselling is a good thing if people take care of their clients. I actually see some posts about I need a host but not a reseller. I can understand why because some people fail to take the time to be redundant themselves thus giving other resellers a bad name. Yet, I can look at the most recent issue of a hosting company that went down and took their customers with them and I say eww I don't want a hosting company either oh wait a second I need someone to host my site. So either way you are taking a chance unless you just spend tons of money and go with big dogs (UUNET).

I guess I'm rambling on so I'll hush.

Like the others said, although I'm completely satified wth Communitech currently, I'm not comfortable that they'll just suddenly close my account without notice. The other thing is that I don't know about Communitech's policies. I've heard that they don't allow Pokemons sites. I don't like nor run a Pokemons site. But I was going to become a game site reseller and I'm not sure about Communitech's view about gaming sites. Also about the Communitech incident, the site were using too much CPU resources.

I have no personal experience with communitech, but ofcourse if you are uncomfortable with them - then move.

A search her eon Communitech will reveal that they were lying to people about how much bandwidth they were consuming, the reason they were given for their sites being shut down. It appears to have been an effort to trick people into getting dedicated servers with them, and it did work to some extent.

Some people did get a dedicated server, just not with them. One of them, possibly two, reported here that their bandwidth (on their dedicated server) was less than a third of what Communitech had told them it was.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any company that lies to any of their customers. Sooner or later, they will lie to all of them.

Yeah I went to Wizards Hosting and they didn't have a reseller package and I contacted them through the feedback form like you suggested. What are their packages like?
