I know someone posted this a while back, but it would be awesome if WHT had the quick reply hack, like Yaxay does.

Very good hack. Installed it myself on some occasions and it doesn't cause any trouble.

Just a note that this is the 'suggestions' forum, not the 'post anything and it will be immediately implemented' forum. There is a difference. While it seems like a nice hack, the owner of the forum might not like it (there are reasons why it is good and bad). We have to weigh the good and the bad....

Chicken - Indeed, it isnt an "ask and ye shall recieve forum", but if HeadSurfer doesnt have the time/bother to come to this forum, and nobody else has the authority to make a decision, whats the point of having it?

I will evaluate the quick reply hack and determine whether or not it would be a worthwhile additional, I'll let you all know the outcome. Thanks for your suggestions/recommendations.

This is a great addition to the board. It may even lessen Chicken's carpal tunnel now that he can save a few thousand clicks a day. :)

I'm going to evaluate using the smilies, but that function may not stick around due to load. :D

Perhaps the "Reset Form" button could be changed to the "Preview Reply" button used on the actual reply page?

I think with it being in the familiar location it'd be all too easy to lose a lenghty post (plus I usually preview my posts every time).

Whats the typical load on the WHT main box?

NumLock

can u remove the smilies? aren't we all used to these smilies already and can just type them down? those are extra bytes to download in every page you know.

What hits it?? 200 concurrent users should be a breeze.... The max online here is only 214....

Whats the mysql config?

I wish it had a signature/no signature check box. That's a very important feature.

Well thats the thing, you'd have to make another query to the database to see if the user has a sig or not, then display the correct check if they want the sig box checked as per set in the user cp...

Just to much hassle :D

WebDev
06-18-2002, 11:15 PM
Hey we've gotta compromise somewhere or it'll start making the quick reply less convenient ;) All those options are still under post reply if it's really important. :D

Well, he added the smilies, but yes this another drawback of the hack. Means we'll most likely get more signature violations as poeple just type them in, but I'll let Robert and Patrick handle those reports from now on ;)
