View Full Version : Any reputable companies offering "Snaps" on .eu?

After many months of waiting a Sunrise application has at last been rejected for a .eu I wanted.
(I knew it would, the guy had applied for it under the "other" category - basically he shares the same name as me, as if he was ever going to get it).
Anyway, in around a months time (they have to allow time for him to appeal) this .eu will drop and be available to anyone.

I'm sure he'll probably go for it again and if the fact that most other TLD's of this name have already been taken I'm sure others may also be interested.
Are there any reputable companies out there offering a "Snapping Service" on .eu domains yet?
I know that here in the UK 123-reg claim to be, however after the fiasco with them failing to get pre-orders over in a timely manner I simply don't trust them with this particular task.
I don't want to spend silly money on what is a vanity surname.eu domain, but I'm willing to pay for a company to watch for it to drop and attempt to snap it when it does.

Any pointers?

Just check the registrars list who tried to get sex.eu when the sunrise started. I hope that said registrars still have their snapping software available for the special issues like yours.

Good luck!

Hi;

EU domain names are continued to be released on Tuesdays Belgium time 11:00 AM.

And many registrars are helping registrants to get sunrise domain names that are not successfully registered.

is your list to figure out who

Pool.com is just one of them and they are notorious with 2 level auctioning costing a lot to registrants to get a released domain name.

Hi;

And many registrars are helping registrants to get sunrise domain names that are not successfully registered.The majority of registars on the EURid list of registrars are squatter operations rather than genuine registrars. These squatters effectively block out legitimate EU citizens from getting dropped premium .eu domains by sheer force of numbers.

The people in EURid have effectively conspired with these squatters to plunder .eu gTLD. As a gTLD, .eu is a disaster with at least 60% (perhaps as high as 90%) of it consisting of squatted or speculative registrations. I don't know how the hell the incompetents in Eurid won the contract but there should be an investigation.

It is very easy to figure the wrong ones out.

check their addresses and if you see a repeat of the same address for several companies, it means they are a member of this group.

Comparing the names you came up with with the WHT list here by searching would help you to find the ones out.

We are EU registrar and offer you to register domains in these tuesday mini-sunrise periods :-)
We will charge you only if we are successfull, so no risk for you. We do not belong to these registrars with multiple companies. We have only one eurid membership. Again, we dont want money from you if we fail, so no risk for you.

Please contact me directly eurid (at) headlight.de

Winfried,

Thank you - I will be in touch shortly :)

The domain I'm actually after on this occasion is a failed sunrise purchase.
The domain status changed from "Initial" to "Rejected" at the start of last week.
I believe there is a one month period where the person who attempted to register can appeal and then it drops for all.

The .eu roll-out has been absolutely terrible as most of us know.
However Eurid have placed on hold a whole host of domains that are thought to be part of the whole scam that was comitted by a few registras.
They have said that they hope to be able to resell these domains again, fairly once some legal things have been sorted out (people moaning about their domains being on hold even though it was obvious the domain was illegally registered in the first place).

Two of the domains I wanted for work are currently on hold so we are still hoping we might get our hands on these once they have sorted everything out.
It really is a shame - .eu had the "potential" to be one of the big TLD's.
Putting .com aside (because that will always be the big one) I could have seen .eu up there with .net & .org
Maybe in the future it will be, but right now it is a mess.
