View Full Version : 50GB Data Transfer Needed for Demo Downloads

I have a demo software program that's about 12MB and available at Cnet and ZDNet. I get hundreds of downloads a week and it's eating up all my bandwidth.

I'm looking for a company where I can host just this demo and have it available for download from a reliable and speedy server. I will probably need about 50GB bandwidth a month but not much storage space because I will only be storing the demo there.

I'm hoping I can find such a service at a reasonable cost. Please advise if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,

You might want to post this in Web Hosting Request, you would get better response there.

The web hosters are not allowed to post or promote their business here.

Thanks for the advise about the other forum. I guess I didn't scroll down the index page far enough before picking a forum to post in.

http://alwayswebhosting.com/ *advertises* 60 GBs. Use them for $9.95/mo.

I think you should pick up three - six el cheapo accounts that advertise "unlimited" bandwidth and have multiple download sites available from your page!

Don't forget though, time is money. Splitting account also means that you have to spend multiple times setting it up, multiple times updating it (ie. checking which one exceeded limit), and mulitple times dealing with supports and other things.

This time could well be spent by marketing or debugging, and bring in more revenue.

Actually splitting into several accounts may not be a bad idea. I do that with my sites too which distributes sharewares which I create. Sort of mirror download and entry sites.

At least when things does down, not everything goes down with it and it sort of like balances the load.

Of course, in which case, I have two domain names and most shareware repository sites supports listing of more than one download links.

That's a very good point, Edwin. Either go with multiple hosts with redundency (but with more time spent), or find one qualitiy host.
