I am looking for a new host. Dynastyhost seems to have much if not all of what I am looking for. However, a search here has turned up some negative comments regarding billing and lack of response. These are a few months old and I am wondering if this is still a problem? Thanks for your feedback!

At first everything looked OK.. After a minute I came apon this page http://dynastyhost.com/plans.htm now a 500 meg plan on there "Premium Server" cost $29.99 a month while a 600 meg plan on there "Standard Server" with 2 extra gigs of transfer only cost $9.95.. What I am wondering is WTF? is the "Standard Server"? Does he have his "Premium" customers on a server colo'd somewhere and the "Standard" customers are sitting on a 486 box in his basement hooked up to his cable modem? Just sounds way off to me.. I mean either way the space is not really what matters it's the bandwidth.. either way he is going to pay the same amount so it just seems a little fishy to me.. Maybe they have come up with the greatest hosting idea in the world but it just seems a little odd to me.. NOW on to the good part.. as i am writing this I noticed a popup come up.. so i was like geez talk about cheesy after I waited a second I realized this was not just any ordinary everyday pop-up this was "Kate" from DynastyHost sales wanting to know if I needed anything? LOL.. that is the craziest thing I have ever seen. Kinda made me feel like big brother was watching over me lol.. anyway I would contact them and find out exactly what the different servers mean and maybe even request some test files to download from both servers.. Good luck..

I've used Dynasty Host for my forum hosting for a very long time. They've had problems in the past, but now I'm seeing a positive change lately. They've hired more staff. :D

I'm trying to keep myself off this thread.. but OKIHost made some statements that are really unprofessional and I would like to clear them up.

1. No, we do not have servers hooked up on our basement.

2. The difference between Standard and Premium servers are Premium servers are Dual Pentium. They are connected through the same connection.

3. We have sales representatives online helping our clients. Just like you're walking in a store and someone greeting you. If you've never seen this before, walk into Wal-Mart :)

4. If you're in doubt about our connection, let me know and I will give you a test file to download.

Thank you

I am sorry if you feel offended it any way.. I just do not understand a 200% markup for for adding one processor. As far as your online sales team goes it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.. The same taste I got when I went to buy a new living room set a couple of weeks ago and the salesmen all confronted me at once and after than one was sent to follow me around the store all seven floors.. I am very sorry if I have offended you in any way and I hope you will accept my apology. I still do not understand your setup but I would assume that it is working for you or you would not be in business.. again sorry and best of luck to you in the future.

Thanks Okihost for pointing the difference in Premium and Standard. I guess my eyes just automatically gravitated to what looked like the right plan for me. It does make you wonder.

After looking at it again, the only thing I can conclude is that with premium you get phone support and a static ip address and with standard you don't.

As far as the static IP address you would really only need one if you need SSL.. As far as the phone support goes it really would not matter I dont think.. When I was looking for hosting back in the dat I found that email support was alot faster than sitting on the phone with them for 15-30 mins while they do there stuff I would rather ship and email out and wait for a reply.. Well best of luck and sorry if I came off the wrong way in my previous post.. Its just the most akward pricing structure I have seen.. Thanks
