Hey people,

I'm about to purchase a second computer, and I need to find a nice desk between 60 and 80 inches wide, to hold them both. All of the "office" sites I go to either sell desks for one computer, or a monster-sized mini cubicle. I just want something sleek, and suited for two PCs and one seat.

Does anyone have two PC's on the same desk, or know where to find one?

I suggest getting an "L" shaped desk. They are nice for just two machines (or more) and sounds like something you could use. Easy to roll one chair around. All the office stores should have them. Good luck!

I myself use the corsa 2000 collection from Office Max. it works great, just a big long open desk with no drawers to get in the way. You can add Extensions to it to make it an L or add a filing cabinet etc.

Very flexible.

This one has drawers though, which I don't really mind.

do you keep your keyboards on the desk itself or the pullout keyboard shelf?

I went to Home Depot/Menards and bought me an 8-foot long countertop. :) Plus filing cabinets to prop it up on. Now I have filing AND more than enough desk space. It's super-easy to clean, too, you can use darn near any solvent you want on it. Very cool is it's plenty deep for any tower, desktop computer or big CRT monitor :)

I confess, I actually bought two 8-footers. They are L-shaped and I have a "hutch" sitting atop the other one... has some shelves and things in it for various forms and things, plus a cabinet. I have my stereo and one printer atop the hutch.

Between the two I've been able to get all my cabling and peripherals set up, have room for the computer, monitor, scanner, etc... plus room for books, flyers, various specialty papers, etc. -- and with the filing cabinets underneath, heck!

It's way cheaper than a desk. :) And if you decide you really like the countertop downline you can always install it in your kitchen if you ever remodel. hehe

I also went and bought a Fellowes keyboard tray (the kind that slides under the desk) for my keyboard. I think that was the most expensive thing out of the whole set-up... like fifty bucks. But, I love it. No more fighting for space for the dang keyboard and mouse.

If it didn't look like a bomb hit, I'd take a picture, but it is really really really really messy right now. :)

I could easily put 2 computers on my desk... Don't know what kind of desk mine is or anything, had it for a while and it was given to me.

If you can, place the CPU's on the floor, that can save some space.

I opted to not attach the pencil drawer since it gets in the way of my legs and my chair arms (i'm 6 foot 3 after all so I like big desks)

I just have the managers desk with the return bridge and the 3 drawer file. I like it because its so open, nothing to bang my legs into.

I'm getting a cherry top done (should be ready within 3 days or so..) that's 30" deep and I believe 70" wide. I already have the cherry file drawers that it will be propped up on - should be nice :)

baileysemt123, the countertop/filing cabinet is a great idea. It's also so simple, I'm surprised I didn't think of it. I think a desk in an L or V shape would be more ergonomic though...I could just swivel my chair to move from computer to computer. If I do go with your idea, I'll probably opt for a 70-80" piece of thick, smooth glass though...I just like the way glass tables look and I've never had one. :D

TheException, I have towers so they can go on the floor, but I just prefer them on the desk. 1) I don't like reaching down to put in CDs... 2) Less leg room... 3) I think computers are too "good" to sit on the floor. Call me crazy.

Daniel, I feel you on that. I'm 6'1" myself. If I get a desk with drawers at the bottom, there would have to be a lot of leg space. The idea of two cabinets and a tabletop would probably solve that.

just thought I'd let you know what happened. I went around to Best Buy, Office Depot, and some other stores. They all had some decent desks, and Office Depot had a beautiful marble-top desk, 70" wide, with matching monitor stands... gorgious set up. But the desk was $200, and the monitor stands were $50 each (and I'd need two. I almost broke down and bought it, but I thought I'd give Walmart a shot first.

Walmart has the cheapest little computer workstations and desks I've seen, but nothing fit my needs. Then, in the middle of the store, I had an epiphany. I saw a small, 30" desk for $29.99 and decided to buy two of them and arrange them in a wide-L shape. I'm gonna put a filing cabinet between them and have a fairly large workstation, all for under $100.

There are two possible solutions that I know of...

One of them is this-

Buy two desks and merge them together, either in one straight row, a V shape, or an L shaped..

The other one I know of is quite expensive, and that's when you custom build 1. Usually, that would take like 300-400 bucks right out of ur wallet.
