In my search for a host for one of my web design clients, I've seen some "independent" reviews on a company called Korksoft, and most were positive. Some of them were negative but the president of the company actually dealt with and responded to those criticisms in a professional manner. The link below is an example of what I'm talking about.

Now I like that. It at least indicates some level of company caring and an attempt to properly deal with bad publicity (which I guess is inevitable at some point, no matter how good you are). My only problem is that I don't know that much about the company itself and I was wondering if any of you have.

I know the owner of www.chat-town.de that is included in that page. I helped him move to that company. He had a quick response from korksoft. He had two days down time but after that I never heard anything bad about it.

I cannot speak for their shared hosting customers, but we had a dedicated server with them for 3 months before we had to make a move due to problems. Basically we had problems from day 1 with the server they provided. We finally decided it would be cheaper to buy our own server and get into a major data center than to lose customers. I will refrain from really blasting them, since you are looking at shared hosting and I no experience with that part of thier service.
However, one of the biggest problems that we saw was network oriented. We constantly had problems reaching the data center from the southern US. Also, the AT&T line seemed to fail alot causing it to fall back to the Sprint line that was incredibly slow 3000-5000ms ping times. We have had less network downtime in nac.net's data center in the last three months than in most two week periods with korksoft. It is possible they have gotten this fixed in the last 2 months, but it was present for the 4 months we had the server.

Thanks guys. I'm inclined to look at it more from the eclipsewebs point of view and am going to stay away from them because I try to pick hosts for the long term so that I don't have to bounce around from server to server and cost clients downtime. Much obliged!

UGH, do NOT go with these guys. Yet another deadbeat company. Same thing happened to me with Korksoft that happened @ kikko/rackvillage, except Korksoft owes me $300 I went with them a year or two ago, and they boned me out of $300... Same deal, they tell me, oh of course, yes we will refund your money ASAP... Call me back on Thursday, call back, have to completely explain my situation again, "oh yes, of course we will refund your money"
Never actaully did come, their last excuse was, "We cant seem to find you ever being a user of our service"
