Hi,
I was in a yahoo chat room via the software, and this dude threatened me (verbally) and said he is going to call my mom up tonight, because he's gonna track my phone number or something like that. And he is 17, not just a little kid playing around, I heard him, cuz we were doing voice chat.
What I need to know, IS THIS POSSIBLE? He said he's going to call my house tonight at 12:00am, and then put my phone number on his site and write a remark about my yahoo ID, like he does to other people that 'annoy' him.
IS THIS REALLY POSSIBLE? How would he do that, how could he track my fone # down? I didn't give him any info.
Thanks,
- Shawn

1. how old are you?
2. you talk like, if your under the age of 14, it isnt possible to do what he's saying, but if ur over, it is -- which is not true.
3. again, how old are you? LOL
you worry too much
just because somebody made a threat over the internet
doesn't mean somethign is going to happen to you
jeeez
if you aren't infected with any trojans
you aren't running anything on your computer that could leave you vulnerable to other people
then i am almost positive he couldnt' do **** to you..
unless he got your ip address, found out what isp you use, and what the fone # is for the location in ur city, and tried to social engineer his way into getting your info
which i highly doubt is possible now a days
but ya never konw
but dont worry, nothign is going to happen
unles there is something you're leaving out

LOL.. Thats almost as good as the guy I was playing Yahoo! Pool with and he was just kinda sitting there so I kinda told him to speed it up. So finally her comes back 15 mins later.. I was like where the frig were you.. his answer "making a tv dinner" so i was a little pissed and he ended up telling me that he sent a trojan virus to my computer and my computer was going to "blow up" next week.. needless to say I am still waiting.. That trick is as old as the internet people use it to scare little kids and the thing is it works alot of the time.. Just make sure you don't put any personal info in your profile and if your messing around in the chatrooms be careful who you are talking to and don't make it a project to go out and piss as many people off as you can.. This will bite u in the ass sooner or later.. but as far as this guy tell him to go screw..

What he is referring to is an IP lookup in Arin.net database (or rip or apic if europe or asia), all this reveals is the corporation that the IP belongs to, usually your ISP or their provider. It doesn't reveal the user's details so don't worry. In addition your ISP won't release any details without permission of the proper authorities otherwise they're in some serious trouble.

besides
if an isp has 500000 locations
arin isnt going to tell him the info of the location near you
prolly just their headquarters, or something like that.
