AlaskanWolf 06-11-2002, 04:10 PM on your site, can you put what each program is useful for, after thats done, i think you will get alot more sales, including mine, half the php programs i have never heard of
kosmo 06-11-2002, 05:41 PM AlaskanWolf,
I just supposed the programs are well known. Since this doesn't seem to be the case:
OS Commerce 2.2 (ex The Exchange Project)
is a top-notch multi-language, multi-currency shop with downloadable products possibility (just look at my shop: people can buy and directly after paying can download the purchased product)
phpBB2
is probably the best known forum software. Some people believe it is better than vBulletin
4images Gallery
is a gallery application with user management, category-wide permissions, support for GD, NetPBM and ImageMagick, New Pictures, Random Picture, rate Picture, Comment Picture and much more
PHPauction
is an auction program, probably the best free auction software
PHProjekt
is an online password protected organizer/groupware: Addressbook, Time Sheet, E-Mail, Project, Forum, Chat, RTS, File Management, To Do and much more
PHP-Nuke
This should be well known. A web-log or community software
Post-Nuke
As above, better programmed but less add ons
phpLinks
A web-catalog like yahoo
phpWebSite (english version)
Like PHP-Nuke/PostNuke but not community oriented.

ho247 06-11-2002, 05:49 PM Are the Fantastico pages template based? If someone buys a license to use Fantastico, could they change the setup pages?
Alan
kosmo 06-11-2002, 05:53 PM Template: there is header/footer and css. The next step would be to exclude all strings to a language file (not done yet -- MAYBE will be done).
Modify: You can modify it as you like, add your logo, remove any reference to the original name etc. There is no copyright notice.

ho247 06-11-2002, 06:14 PM Cool... I've just been wondering that and haven't had a chance to e-mail you to ask about it. But now that I know, I'm sure to order a license in the future when I need it :).
Alan
kosmo 06-11-2002, 06:18 PM You are welcome ;))
I have to say Fantastico is pretty good, I bought it last week, and i have totally customized it. Its such a nice clean script that i have gone through the whole program and added a few more scripts. I have added about 3 or 4 more scripts going to add a few more in the next day or so. And since i am designing my own cpanel theme, i have totally built it into my new theme.
thanks kosmo
eddie 06-12-2002, 06:31 AM igy,
I like to see the additions you have done...
Would you distribute your addons??
eddie if you pm me i will show you a sample of what i have done so far.. I still have alot that i want to do to it and well i don't want to show it yet =)
But if you would like i can show you through pm
i will name only 1 out of a couple i have added.. the reason i am picking this one to tell you, is because it was so fun adding..
PerlDesk
:)
since i can now admit i know this script inside and out, please tell me what scripts you would like added and ill do it.. Inless there is 100 files to edit.. then that would just take to much time..
i can add perls scripts or php scripts.. mysql database or no mysql database. Just let me know.
kosmo 06-13-2002, 06:29 AM PerlDesk
Hehe. This is the next I wanted to add.
it was so fun kosmo, it took me a couples hours to finally get it to work how i wanted it to but it does work now.. Only thing i couldn't get to work right is you know when you first install in normally, the admin pass is demo. that is built into the sql, it doesn't ask you to enter password so. Sadly i had to leave as demo. But everything works perfect. Going to try to add like 3 today..
Thanks Again
ho247 06-13-2002, 11:44 AM Cool... having PerlDesk as one of the scripts will be a very good tool for reseller accounts, so I hope that you do add it. You're sure to sell a lot more licenses, the more scripts you have.

APEXware 06-27-2002, 02:57 AM Which version of PHPNuke and PostNuke does Fantastico install?
kosmo 06-27-2002, 04:16 AM Post Nuke 0.7.0.3
PHP Nuke 5.5
I think there are newer versions out there and they will be integrated asap.

APEXware 06-27-2002, 03:16 PM Thanks. Another question.. No matter what folder you choose to put phpnuke in, it automatically puts it in the community folder(I think it's the same with all the other auto install scripts, puts them in a certain folder no matter what you chose). Any fix for this?

Nope. There is no fix because this is not a bug -- there is no choise of install folder and I don't know what you mean by "puts them in a certain folder no matter what you chose" since the user can't choose a destination folder. My intention was to write a KISS installer for the unexperienced end user. Experienced users will probably need 2 minutes to rename the dir to something else and setup the conf files to reflect the changes. But -as said- my target was the beginner who needs the website up and running ASAP without even knowing what a path is.

APEXware 06-27-2002, 04:01 PM Ok, I asked because it does say Site URL (NO trailing slash), which made me think you were supposed to chose where it was to be installed.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
kosmo 06-27-2002, 04:04 PM Probably I should remove the Site URL entry field as it is actually a fixed value. Nice idea. The simpler it gets, the better it is ;)
APEXware 06-27-2002, 04:13 PM Yeah, keep those inexperienced users from getting confused. I saw a post somewhere else who'd tried to install phpnuke and had the question I posed, they didn't understand why it got installed into the /community/ folder when they typed something else in the field.
:)
