View Full Version : Bandwidth Limit & WHM
splashscreen 06-11-2002, 03:20 AM When visiting one of my accounts, I get the error page "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded".
I have already upgraded the account in WHM to increase bandwidth by changing the account's package. But the error page is still there.
Can anyone help? Must I do something more?
sodapopinski 06-11-2002, 03:33 AM Perhaps the browser load the cache files.
Try to re-adjust the bw limit once again and do not forget to reload the browser.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply :-)
So the change is supposed to be immediate? I'm still not seeing it
Annette 06-11-2002, 03:51 AM Did you unsuspend all bw exceeders from WHM? That's the other step you might need to take.

Yes, done that. Still no joy :(
Any other ideas?
mdrussell 06-11-2002, 04:23 AM Bandwidth values are only calculated every 24 hours, this may be why. Although I've never used the bandwidth limit option, so I'm not sure...
splashscreen 06-11-2002, 04:33 AM Thanks, Matt. I kind of suspected that :(
Would it be a better option for me to close the account and create a new one? I need this site to be up immediately, you see. It brings in lots of new business :)
Annette 06-11-2002, 05:14 AM If memory serves, from the subdomain/509 issues a few months ago, doesn't WHM write a file to /var/cpanel/bwlimited? Check to make sure that the unsuspend process didn't leave something hanging around in there. If all else fails, you've raised the limits and unsuspended, a /scripts/upcp should do a recheck and let the site back up, I'm pretty sure.

Um...how do I access that file (bwlimited)?
Also, what's /scripts/upcp?
:(
Annette 06-11-2002, 05:31 AM I guess we should have checked first to make sure you actually had root on that machine. If you don't, you need to get with your provider and have them do these things. bwlimited is actually a subdirectory under /var/cpanel. Within /var/cpanel/bwlimited will be files for any domains on the server that are currently bw exceeders (509'd). /scripts/upcp is the cPanel updater that runs every night if you have the autoupdates turned on or that is run manually by those who wish to update at their own pace.
splashscreen 06-11-2002, 05:37 AM Thanks, Annette, for your help :)
splashscreen 06-11-2002, 10:35 AM Does anyone have any idea what time bandwidth values are calculated? I still can't access the site :(
Haven't heard anything from support, either, so am getting quite frustrated!
splashscreen 06-11-2002, 01:20 PM Ok, what I did was delete the account, then recreate it (with a different username, as it wouldn't let me use the same username (!)) in WHM.
And guess what? Still the same error: bandwidth limit exceeded!
Going crazy here :(
...and still not a word from my host's tech support!
Skeptical 06-11-2002, 07:30 PM I know cpanel resets the bandwidth usage meter once a month. However it appears to always reset at the end of the first day of each month. Is this how it's supposed to be doing it?
