Blanked out hosts are generally banned from the forums for bad practices, usually breaking the rules of this forum.

So how does that help visitors who are interested in finding out about bad webhosts? :confused:

Banning them only HELPS them :(

Usually it's for spamming the board with advertising, so banning the name serves the purpose of putting an end to that.

So in most cases if you type a name and comes up that way that they have something like that in their history. I don't know if that's the case with CI.

For specifics, though, whenever it happens you can ask the moderators and they can tell you what the reason for the ban is.

Why not ban the poster? Or the poster's IP?

I mean if this forum is to be useful - *** out a webhost's name will not help at all.

I personally had a horrible experience with c-i-host, yet every if I type it, it's ****-d out. How does that help others?

1. The posts do get deleted.
2. They'll register a different username.
3. Using multiple IPs is so easy.

I disagree that it doesn't help. Just like happened to you, you type a host's name and it's starred out, you know something is up. In that way it might help more than any other approach.
