Reposted: Who Is Better Than UltraSpeed! by OnlinePromoter.com

Somehow a question turned into a disucssion about age and other completely unrelated things, so I've moved the original post to the General Conversations forum (can be viewed/replied to here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=5399&pagenumber=1 ) and am reposting OnlinePromoter.com's question...

Background on post:
He's not sure what to expect with the recent acquisition between burst.net and Ultraspeed and is currently with UltraSpeed and have about 250 customers.

He asked:
Any recommendations as to who is equal to UltraSpeed price and service?

Side note:
He also asked:
What should I do any advice would be greatly appreciated.

-but I think the only thing you should do if to relax, see how you like the new service, and consider other options as you normally would. Your question (which I've made BOLD above) should give you a few more to look at and consider, but I wouldn't freak out just yet. Leave that for Monday and enjoy the weekend :)

So, any recommendations as to who is equal to UltraSpeed price and service?

Hello Everyone
I think this might be the first post-buy-out support experience anyone has had.

Server went down.
Reported to support at burst.
Back up 9 mins later.

Other people were probably affected by this as well.

It couldn't have been handled any better regardless of who was in charge.

I *was* concerned about possible price increases, especially as Bursts list prices for fitting RAM ($65 per card plus $10 per month on top of their standard set up charges) were really not acceptable.
However, I have been assured that ex Ultraspeed customers will get similar pricing to before.

So, its a case of wait and see, but I still don't see any reason to jump ship yet.
I will evaluate things when it comes to committing to another server in light of what has happened between now and then.

In my experience over the last year or so Burst's reputation as gone down the pan. Were once they were a model of a quality hosting company they suffered not only growing pains but adolecent ones also.

The most common complaints are:

1) Flaky Network prone to downtime:
2) Problems cancelling accounts:

Dave, while I was with Burst, this was completely true (you can talk to the guy who pushes the buttons above, about that, heh). But since then, the guy who pushes the buttons has improved the network greatly and most people report that it is now very fast and reliable. I don't think this is an issue any more at least.

Probably true but once a company has these kind of avoidable issues then they rarely recover in the eyes of the industry.

My opinion:

Bill is a good person and VDI is a good company no matter what some people are saying. He's always helpful and trust me if you can't get in touch with someone at burst or any other company using the VDI datacenter for that matter, he's happy to reboot if a server goes down. He's helped me before :D
