View Full Version : Plesk or HELM
Dear All,
I am thinking to host a windows server.
May I know Plesk and HELM which one is good?
** I need to add anti virus, spam and webmail features to system too.
gcc-hosting 08-28-2006, 12:21 PM I tested all 3 and Helm was my personal choice. They are all good CP's though. What I dont like about plesk, is they bundle too much in to it (PHP, mysql, etc...)
Things that I like to install and control myself.
LoopHole 08-28-2006, 12:57 PM helm for me
besty 08-28-2006, 01:17 PM HELM is easy to manage for both admin and as well as user. Has many feature's.
Plesk- The old version has many bugs, but i hearing good updates about the latest one. Though i will recommend helm.
Saksher 08-28-2006, 01:26 PM If you have to make a choice from helm or plesk then better go for the former.
I am not sure if you have looked into other control panels as well like Hosting Controller (http://hostingcontroller.com) and DotnetPanel (http://dotnetpanel.com). They both are good for windows hosting, Hosting Controller has been in market for over 7 years now and offers more features than anyone. As far DotnetPanel goes, they are new but promising. By the way, Hosting Controller is running a promotion now a days...
Blessed.

TCP/IP Warrior 08-28-2006, 06:10 PM HELM... Specially with the new version coming soon :)

WinHosting 08-29-2006, 09:13 AM I should agree, Helm3 is a decent panel, not the best, but decent. But Helm4 is a shame. It is nice, yes. But it is full of bugs and has a sophisticated interface.
sonixi 08-29-2006, 09:25 AM I narrowed my search to Helm vs Plesk recently, and chose Plesk. Why? Because IMO, Plesk is more widely used and easier to administrate. Mind you, I only tested Helm, never used it for a production server. I have been very satisfied with Plesk/Windows. Also, PLesk has SiteBuilder which is an add-on feature that allows hosting customers to build their web site in their web browser. Very nice.
bigdeal 08-29-2006, 10:28 AM Between Helm and Plesk my vote goes to Plesk. Among other features Plesk has a complete array of add-ons which make it a complete solution.
MY vote goes to PLESK too, newst 7.6.1 version is fast, work on IIS and stable ! :P
demowolf 08-29-2006, 03:09 PM I should agree, Helm3 is a decent panel, not the best, but decent. But Helm4 is a shame. It is nice, yes. But it is full of bugs and has a sophisticated interface.
Remember that Helm 4 has not yet been released. They are aiming for early October to release Helm 4 stable. Therefore, bugs are to be expected ;)
