zymic 08-20-2006, 05:16 PM how many servers is the port shared with?
JJongma 08-21-2006, 05:40 PM Hi MMEDV,
too bad you are changing your prices. We are in the market for a server (XL, maybe XXL) but we have not tried Giga-International yet because of several issues mentioned in threads here on WHT. Hope your prices don't go up too much ;)
How is the situation now with extra IP's? Are they available yet and at what price? How about US speeds? From Holland downloading your test file I can hardly get 400 kb/s, not very impressive for a 100mbit line...
How about Plesk? I can see it in the upgrade list, but it doesn't state a how many domain license is included with that. And support... other threads mentioned support is very slow, has that been improved?
Setup is a bit steep to try it out for a month as well, since there are no real reviews anywhere of your service, no 30-day-money-back either :)
MMEDV 08-22-2006, 10:05 AM Hello,
@ zymic:
this is different and depends on the current usage per server. We change it very often so that every server has a good speed.
@ JJongma:
Extra IPs are now available for 1 Euro per IP per month.
The speed will be even better than it is now in about a week due to a new 1Gbit/s-Line of Tiscali straight to our core-switch. This will approve our bandidth world-wide :-)
The usual PLESK license we use costs 14,99 Euros per month and includes 30 domain-accounts. Should you ever need more, just tell us and we will be able to upgrade it!
With regard to the price: It's quality and we know what we can offer for this price :-)
Best regards
Sugar888 08-28-2006, 03:03 AM I'm having probs buying my server on the 4th step as I'm paying by paypal it won't let me enter my paypal address as it doesn't accept special characters :S
JJongma 08-28-2006, 05:47 AM @MMEDV,
I think you'r new line just got connected as the speed I get here has definitly improved! We are ready to order a server from you now. I would like to see a 30-day no-good money-back guarantee (since we're a startup and don't have extra cash lying around) but I do understand such things are hard to do... So I guess we'll have to start with a month-month contract. Any chance of you waving the setup fee? Furtheremore: are the prices including or excluding VAT?
lamans 08-29-2006, 01:29 AM Hiya All
My 2 Month review on Giga-International... I see that quite a few of you need an independent review of giga-international so here it is...
The Speed
Is fine from Ireland I can max out my connection 20mbps No probs at night but a few times during the day its slowed right down but not to often so all and all speed is quite good... From what I have been told it works pretty well in most major European places…
Been told they are changing carrier so speed will hopefully increase and even more for the US and ASIA…. They say that will allow me to have more IP addresses too…
Proper Test File on Proper Server www.coverzoom.com/test.wmv - why dont you guys post your speeds and locations try it twice...
The Server = Dedicated Server XL:
Yea it works what more can I ask for… Its as they say on there site even though I was curious that shouldn’t HT processor show as dual processor on Fedora… Can anyone shine light on this point…
They don’t tell you this part before you order but it takes 7 days for setup…
Support and Billing
Is absolute poo very poor... They would be much better charging an extra 10 euro a box and hiring proper support staff and setting up a real billing and ticketing system.
There is no billing at all they dont request payment or invoice you but expect you to pay them and they can’t seem to understand why this is can cause a problem…
Desperate response time to support requests even though mine had been minor three times I needed them about a payment issue and it took 10 hours to reply and then 6 hours to reply to my reply and the third time they still haven’t replied 2 days later so I am pretty sure that’s been binned…
I even resulted to sending a pm to this MMEDV (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=78111) dude with no reply so I suggest you understand that rapid response and accountability is something that giga-international haven’t got right yet…
So to sum it all up I was thinking about moving all my servers across to these guys but have had second thoughts after there support and billing issues…
I feel as if you need a server that isn’t very important then they are fine to go with but if its important or critical give them some more time to workout there support and billing issues before giving them serious consideration… The moral is you get what you pay for and these dudes are cheap…
Hope this helped…
MMEDV 08-29-2006, 10:06 PM Hello @ all,
Sorry for any waiting-time during these days, we're very busy making everything ready for our CARRIER-CHANGE during the next 48 hours. Everything will be just fine, so don't be mad :-)
@ sugar888:
please just enter any paypal-address which doesn't exist and which you like to proceed with the order. Then send us an email in which you tell us the RIGHT paypal-address and everything will be good.
@ JJongma:
all prices include any taxes, so FINAL prices for everyone :-)
Please understand that I can't give any more discounts at the moment.
@ lamans:
Thanks for your report, we are happy that you like our server in most points.
With regard to the criticsm about the billing-system:
I'm pretty content that this is the main-point for you because it IS definetly something we can improve. We will work on this and if there's anything we can do for you, don't hesitate to write an email to support@giga-international.com !
Thank you!
The new carrier-line SHOULD be online in 1 day! :-)
best regards
lamans 08-29-2006, 10:10 PM Yea no probs man....
Let me tell you get your billing and your support sorted and you will be a very competitive host that will be hard to beat for a centralised european host.
Thanks
Joelio 08-30-2006, 04:47 AM So far I'm fairly happy with my server, they went out of their way to get some stuff sorted for me so I can't complain in that respect. I'll be very eager to know how the upgrade will benefit us users.. at the moment the connection does drop quite a bit (I've been running ping plots from a couple of locations) and the speed isn't excessive. I'm sure the new connection will help (/me crosses fingers)
lamans:
To get 2 CPUs (for HT) showing up in
cat /proc/cpuinfo
You need to ensure you're running an SMP aware kernel.
Joelio 08-30-2006, 05:33 AM actually the connection goes up and down more times than a cheap hooker in happy hour.. well ok, not that bad, but it has been dropping an awful lot today, lets hope this is just IP range change pre-blues! :D
Joelio 08-31-2006, 06:27 AM Well, I'm on the new IP range now and I must say, it's FAR better :)
GOOD WORK GUYS!

Hiya...
They were changing over my ip address and i forgot to update the dns of that site... Try again now...
wormy 09-01-2006, 04:43 AM Transfers to US are about 50K/s right now with the two test files. What happens when anyone in that network tries fetching data FROM the US? Is the bandwidth both ways equally narrow? I am asking because I want to use it for a proxy and most of the web sites visitied by proxy users I assume are based in the US or at least a great part are.
So is bandwidth from the US-->EU the same as the bandwidth from EU-->US on your current network? What is the reason for this slowness...where exactly is this transatlantic bottleneck coming from?
Also I am curious how is traffic between your network and India/Asia?
lamans 09-01-2006, 05:04 AM Hiya...
I got a guy in NY and he says he can pull 400-550k... What part of the states you getting 50kbs from...
When i was loooking for a server i had very slow test experiances with california servers.. But the lowest was about 80-100k...
VisiGod 09-07-2006, 08:09 AM Well, from Portugal i could get the following (Im using one 100Mbit line):
Connecting to www.coverzoom.com|193.164.131.57|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 95.701.719 (91M) [text/plain]
100%[====================================>] 95.701.719 375.14K/s ETA 00:00
13:07:46 (944.51 KB/s) - `test.wmv' saved [95701719/95701719]
Also, are there any news on new IP's. I would like to get one of your servers but i need at least 8 IP's
MMEDV 09-07-2006, 06:45 PM Hi,
additional IPs are no problem.
Just order it via mail for 1 Euro per IP per month.
Best regards

Don't remember but I just did a simultaneous pull from my comcast.net home box, a server at LT and a server at FDC and I get this:
Comcast 107.59 K/s
LT 113.93 K/s
FDC 63.83 K/s
Now FDC is in Chicago and LT is in Dallas. I did a "wget http://www.giga-hosting.biz/30mb-file.rar" for the test.
VisiGod 09-09-2006, 10:59 AM Yup... I've also put up both files downloading and the speed doesnt go more than 45K... very strange...
wormy 09-09-2006, 11:51 AM Here are the results for the 100 MB test.wmv file that a user placed:
Comcast/Chicago 38.73 KB/s
LT/Dallas 41.19 KB/s
FDC/Chicago 28.01 KB/s
lamans 09-09-2006, 04:06 PM Hiya...
Thanks for the speed reports... could you guys due wget screen dumps i am very interested in this as i have no connection with giga was just putting a test file up to help everyone... Anyway thats some really poor speed from them datacentres... I am in ireland and can pull very good speed and that was my deciding factor when i rented a giga server...
Also note that the server is the 3.0Ghz, 2GB, 250GB server but it currently has a unique daily hit rate of about 5000-8000k combined...
Heres one from a London Datacentre

MMEDV 09-13-2006, 09:28 AM Hi,
once again:
there are currently several hundreds of mbit/s unused :-)
So there should be no problem in any way with regard to the bandwidth.
Some servers use 20-30 mbit/s all the time, for example, without a problem.
Best regards
