View Full Version : Looking for cheap billing software....
cmbehan 08-18-2006, 04:21 PM Apologies in advance for being a total rookie @ this, but...
I currently have a reseller account to host about a dozen personal sites. I have a few friends/acquaintances who would like to purchase hosting from me, and I've never set anything up to do this.
I guess I will need billing software and something to accept payments.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to get started and what software to use?
Thanks a bunch!
CN@WH101 08-18-2006, 04:37 PM Some of the most popular are ModernBill, Client Exec, Lpanel, AWBS, and WHMAP.
If you are looking for a cheap solution that is easy to integrate I would reccomend Client Exec www.clientexec.com. They are the cheapest out of the above mentioned wth there leased license running at $15.95 per month.
I believe ModernBill is actually the most feature rich program out there. However, it also takes a lot more time to get it customized correctly to integrate with your website.
Hope that helps a little.....
Sigma Pi 08-18-2006, 04:48 PM If your not running a Hosting business and only doing it for friends and what not you can just use Paypal invoice/subscription to have recurring payments and then just send the link to your friends to pay but if you want to run a hosting business either go with modernbill, whmap, whmcs or awbs
NameRegion 08-19-2006, 10:23 AM Agree with y1host. If it's a simple hosting for you and your friends, just don't spend your bucks in a nice, expensive and complete billing software.
For this you can use for free PHPcoin (http://www.phpcoin.com). It's really nice and has several options. Give it a try.
Sigma Pi 08-19-2006, 10:44 AM Thats a good point Bakahost, PHPcoin it comes in Fantasico as well
Lpal-Jay 08-19-2006, 10:46 AM I'd recommend WHMCS, it has great features for a small price of $13.95/month (unless you decide to buy from a reseller)
ittybittyhost 08-19-2006, 10:54 AM If you're not familiar with anything, go with Clientexec.. it's the easiest to use and the most simplest IMO.
Mxweb 08-19-2006, 12:03 PM try AccountLab plus from Netenberg its ciomes with fantastico or myou can download it off there site but you will need a licence key to active the product.
the licence is $45 and that is for unlimited domains for an unlimited period.

Simon Tate 08-19-2006, 12:32 PM I personally went with CE and i've loved every minute of it although i havent been able to try out any of the other pieces of software out there. I would suggest going for paypal subscriptions/payments as Y1host said.
kosmo 08-19-2006, 03:16 PM I have to correct Mxweb. The license for ALP is 45$ for the FIRST year, NOT for an unlimited period, 15$ each year thereafter (less than 4$ / 1.3$ monthly).
kosmo
tanfwc 08-19-2006, 03:27 PM I vote for Clientexec too. That's the most friendly billing software around.
VER-Mo 08-19-2006, 04:21 PM Another vote here for ClientExec for your purposes. Very straightforward and easy to use, has all the basic features.
Mxweb 08-21-2006, 08:58 AM oh yeh sory bout that i read it wrong.
but account lab plus is extremly good valkue for money and its quite easy to manage.
so i would go for that.
wormdevil 08-21-2006, 09:22 AM WHMCS all the way!
Dougy 08-21-2006, 10:06 AM Okay.. time to suggest a $9.95/mon solution. No, it's not the 100% full product, but Ubersmith (www.ubersmith.com) is very nice.
Mxweb 08-21-2006, 10:21 AM does ubersmith create accounts after billing is complete? as i had a quick glance but i didnt see anything that said it.
dhcart 08-21-2006, 10:36 AM Also have Whois.Cart() as other alternative.
toadyus 08-21-2006, 02:06 PM clientexec has done the job for me
