Hi im about to buy a domain name, and it asks for the server host name, do you just type, for example, pc1, or do you type the full domain pc1.domainname.com

The fully qualified domain name (FQDN) is required. However, you cannot just type in any name. The server has to be registered as a host through your registrar first.
