Hello...

Every Saturday morning my raq 'freeze' 'hangs'
And I must reboot from button.

- Has any other this problem?

- What logs file must read to see what happen?
I read /var/log/kerner but I don’t understand any error

Thanks

Sorry for my English

You mean the contents of the file /var/log/messages ?

Seems like its a log rotate problem thing.
This seems to happen on many raqs.

If it is possible, check what time this usually happens and check which PID is causing it.

There may be a chance that parsereport.pl is causing all the funky business on the raq and causing it to crash when it parses.

One thing I found which seems to work is by going into

admserve/html/.cobalt/report

I dont remember the exact path but it was something like the above.

Inside you will see web.cache, web.cache.new, ftp.cache
ftp.cache.new.

This files seem to build up overtime and dont really seem to get any smaller. Once you rm (delete those files) just use touch and create new ones. We have had files as big as 3500 megabytes in which the server was trying to run parsereport on. That will evidently cause the server to crash.

So try it out and tell us if it works.

It seemed to work on our raqs and has caused them to stop crashing every morning.

The web service stops again!!:bawling:

I don’t think that is the log files.
The biggest log files is 75mb at /home/.cobalt/report/

I found this errors on /home/log/httpd/error

[Mon Jun 10 18:30:01 2002] [error] [client 193.41.xxx.xxx] (11)Resource temporarily
unavailable: couldn't spawn child process: /usr/$
[Mon Jun 10 18:30:01 2002] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting

At this time the used memory is about 470mb

I stop the httpd (/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop)
And after I start the httpd (/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start)

After that the server it is working and use 150mb ram

The ps -aux gives me these results

The httpd.conf have this value.
MinSpareServers 5
MaxSpareServers 20
StartServers 5
MaxClients 300
MaxRequestsPerChild 300000

Also some other info
I have a raq 4r with 512 ram
With 65 sites and only 4GB transfer at the month

I don’t understand I have only 4GB at month and the server crash?

Please can any one help?

Thank you…

[Mon Jun 10 18:30:01 2002] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting

that is the error you should be aware of, your server is reaching the limit that you set for MaxClient within Apache, you should raise that limit or get another server to put more sites on. how many sites are on this server? how much memory do you have?

(Sorry for my English)

I have a raq 4r with 512 ram
With 65 sites and only 4GB transfer at the month

I think this happen when a robot visits my server.
It is the same ip every time when the web service stop.
And the first file that want is robot.txt.

How much can set the MaxClients

The httpd.conf have this value.
MinSpareServers 5
MaxSpareServers 20
StartServers 5
MaxClients 300
MaxRequestsPerChild 300000

Thank you

If it would hang every SUNDAY morning I'd say it's the hangover from Saturday night's partytime :D

Sorry for joking around, I hope you find the solution ;)

What about the tasks it runs before it hangs? Should you check the crontab?
