Well, I don't know about dreamweaver / photoshop, but there is an book for the GIMP which has been published both in print and online (HTML, not pdf).

"Grokking the GIMP"

If you're looking to actually learn how to use Dreamweaver/Photoshop check these books out:

Dreamweaver

Adobe

If you're looking to first learn HTML, read this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0201354934/sr=8-8/qid=1155968825/ref=sr_1_8/103-9367114-8026211?ie=UTF8

The Photoshop Wow books are pretty good. If you are completely new to photshop you would probably do with a book that introduces you to all the tools as well. The Wow books get you going in how to actually create stuff after you are familiar with the app.

Dreamweaver? Lot less of a learning curve. Actually I think subscribing to lynda.com and actually watching her videos is more productive than a book for beginners. Still will want a "Bible "(so to speak) down the road. But to get up and going fast I take seeing rather than reading as much more instructive
