My very first Internet job was a web design position at a new but large and well-funded Web Hosting Company. The owner was 24. Had alot of money to spend on marketing. After about 3 years he aquired about 10,000 customers. People would call to cancel and it was like a joke. NO ONE got cancelled after their first request. Refunds? No such thing. I have alot of great stories about that place. They are still in business today acquiring customers at a rate of 250 a day. Request your refund from this hosting company by certified letter. Give them 15 days. If they do not respond, call your bank and do a chargeback. The bank may ask for proof that you tried to resolve the dispute with the business at which point you can show them a copy of the certified letter. Don't take it personally. It's just business ... although no one likes to admit it ... NexDog 06-08-2002, 11:10 AM I would say that most hosting companiues give refunds on the spot. If they don't, there is a danger that a client is going to come here and put the word out - and that's bad news. ;) Damn, 250 clients a day!! gnorthey00 06-08-2002, 11:31 AM No treally, I rarely view the "MY D*** HOSTING COMPANY F***** LEFT, NOW THEY WON'T GIVE MY D**** MONEY BACK" posts. I see plenty of them poop on the forum everytime I check. I check a few, sometimes, when I don't have much to do I look through several. The problem with mostof these posts is that they're just a waste of time. You only have to search bakc and see what everyone else does to get refunds from bad hosts. Such posts look like this: (note use of grammer My hosting compayn [Name of host here] has ben down for 5 days I email them and they havent replied. Yesterday I sent them email saying that I want a refund. Today they replyd saying they never got my previous emails. i know that is bs becuz I sent them to them. now i need u guys advice, what should I do? Noe that his first statement is not our problem. Regardless of whether users feel sympathy or apathy toward the poster, there is no solution that can be given from this board. The email thing is worthless, he doesn't say what he told the hosting company, for all we know he could have been rude to the techs and they could have just closed the tickets on him (not that I condone this behavior) THe third statement is not necessarily true since he may have accidentally sent the message to support@yxzhost.com instead of suport@xyzhost.com. Lastly, we CAN do something about the what to do question. That is where we give them the same advice, send them official letter/letter head/certified letter, etc., wait a couple weeks, then contact your bank for instructions. I rearely see any instructions different than that. GSM 06-08-2002, 12:14 PM I got offered hosting my site from this forum and the bad thing is upon now that company still making offered from this forum  the problem starting when the server down last 3 months and I really did not know when it's up but since then my site down until now :bawling: when the server down they(he) promised to has refund or wait for few days until it up and I decided to wait for ...1 month, after that I email kept ask for active my account , all I got back is ... we will has it up in next few days and I can not count how many time I got that emails until I can not stand with it and I asked them for refund, they said OK but it's still going on and I never has my refund ! If WHT did not has any problem with it I will post all the email here, including their agreement ;) I still kept all the email since fisrt day akashik 06-08-2002, 12:42 PM is it just me or is the hosting industry going into a serious downward slide lately? From multinationals to 'johnny come lately' it seems there's a bit of an explosion lately in a serious lack of customer support. It's no wonder the rest of us have to deal with suspicous, hostile enquiries all the time. Greg Moore XTNet 06-08-2002, 02:13 PM Originally posted by otherground My very first Internet job was a web design position at a new but large and well-funded Web Hosting Company.
