Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of directi.com

I am looking at their reseller package.

From looking at their quickstart interface, it is horrible!

But I believe that they are bringing out an API, does anyone have any news of this?

We looked...and said "oooohhh, aaaahhhh...look at those prices...and no startup! Just a pre-payment! Let's use these guys! And we looked at their control panels for admin and customer...I don't think I've ever made a decision on something so fast"

I wouldn't dare put my customer in front of that to manage their domains...I wouldn't put on of my staff in front of that! It's horrible! We ended up going with Dotster.

I will agree, that there interface is horrible and I would not dare to put a client in front of it either.

I got confused looking at the demo alone.

They are supposed to be bringing out a complete API, and it is that, that I will be using and not the QS interface.

I have been using DirectI for my domain for about the last 6 months. Yes there current interface is not the best and has it's issues but overall it has worked.

The New API which I have played with in a beta stage is a marked improvement. It is due to go live any time now and that's what I am waiting for.

Hi,

Just got an email from directi in which they state that the new QS interface should be up and running from the 23rd June and the new API been downloadable from the end of July.

I hope they stick to those dates.

So if they are out of India what happens if they get nuked by Pakistan? I'm going to stick with a reseller located in the US only probably.

Yes, it is. But I think that's no problem for me. A nuclear war is unlikely I think. I'm happy with them, although I don't like the current controlpanel. But their prices are great!

Well an enormous lot of us rent servers from US and I dont think we think/thought "Oh what happens if my data center is nuked by Saddam Hussein or a plane crashes on the building..."

Coke and Pepsi dont seem to be too worried about being nuked by Pakistan either - they are invading and monopolising our TV shows with big $$ spending and earning more every day!

I think it is in bad taste to speak of an already stressed situation so callously

India is a large country and to say that a domain registrar may be nuked is well quite not done

Maybe the way the statement possibly was stated may be a tad blunt, but realistically it cannot be stated that there is never a likelyhood at all, hence ruling that possibility out. Either way, this detracts from the main question which was about the panel.

I dislike their panel and despite their low prices, wouldn't want to save a few bucks at the expense of ease of use....
