I'm quite new to domian and webhosting stuff, so I have a couple af questions

1.
If I register a new domain at namecheap.com with webguard (private registration), I still have full ownership and control of the domain name right? I can sell, transfer or turn of the webguard it at any time right?

2.
When the private registration is made at Namecheap - can use the domain name at ANY webhost (e.g. Apollohosting) and still with webguard active?
Is the domian transfered to apollo or is it still at the register (namecheap) and just pointing to my hostplan at Apollo? (I'm a newbie here)

3.
I have my website at Apollo and register my domain at Namecheap - how long will it take from submitting the registrationform at Namecheap to I can type the domain name in the browser addressbar and go to my website?

Thanks

Yes, you maintain ownership.

You will see in your control panel you are still the registrant, but what is sent to the WHOIS database is WhoisGuard's info.

You can host it anywhere....the WHOIS is separate from DNS settings.

Propogation with Namecheap is usually instant...but I'd say anywhere from 5 mins to 1 hour assuming your DNS is set correctly.

Thanks - I appreciate your quick answer :)

anywhere from 5 mins to 1 hour

That was fast - also saturday/sunday? Thought it would take 2 to 5 days to register a domain. Glad I was wrong.

That was fast - also saturday/sunday?

Domain registrations/renewals/updates usually happen w/o human involvement from the registrar's side, so days of week aren't really important here... :)

1. Yes and yes

2. Yes and no, it stays with the registrar

3. Anything from a couple of seconds to a couple of days. You point the nameservers (at the registrar) to the nameservers given to you by your hosting company for your domain. The changes are pretty much instantaneous. However, it can take up to a couple of days to propagate these DNS changes out over the internet (if you are unlucky). It might also be affected by your isp dns cache being updated.
