I need to know which of the following software would be best to suit a web host.

Live Support:
PHPLive
Kayako LiveResponse

Thanks, Dave.

PHPLive and Kayako are both great. They both are plenty sufficent. You just need to pick which one you like better.. I like Kayako but PHPLive is nice.

It's like asking CPanel/DirectAdmin..

They both do the job well, but it's what you like.

Kayako LiveResponse will be good if you have Kayako eSupport as well, and PHPLive is better for standalone or any other helpdesk if you have.

As Douglas said, both are them are jus superb!

Thanks for the feedback.

Just out of interest whats the difference between Kayako esupport and kayako supportsuite?

Supportsuite supports "loginshare" which allows individuals to use separate logins such as modernbill, vb, drams, etc to login to the support systems.

Secondly, SupportSuite has a Windows app that can pretty much handle all administrative functions of the support setup, from managing tickets to responses to FAQ entries, etc. v2 does not.

Whats esupport then?

eSupport = Full featured help desk.
eSupport Suite = Everything as "eSupport" but with Live Response included.

Is there any good supportsoftware that is free?
I have tried osTicket, but it is not stable and lacks in development. And it would be nice with live help.

You get what you pay for. Thats why I am happy to pay extra for those little extras in software.

Hehe... very true. Actually I'm trying to find one I can modify. You dont have to pay for a good software when you can make it good ;) But it is easyer to start with something backbone than building from scratch, and then it can't be commersial.

Second, I know there is a lot of dev-peoples who are willing to help with some coding on a project like that. It's all about organizing. It's not only me that miss a real open source alternative which is easy to implement into other api's.

Indeed Dittnett creating your own would be ideal for any company as you can implement your own features. However I and many others prefer to use commercial software because it is easier, more secure, and has plenty of useful features.

Trellis Desk (http://www.iftomatoes.com/trellis/download.php) is a new system that is completely free. It is still in beta but has very nice features such as custom profile / department fields, RSS feeds, etc. :)

I'm more interested in tried and tested systems. I want something experienced customers would recognise and know its one of the best and costs money therefore this company is legit.

Thanks for the help though..

Then eSupport is probably best.

SupportSuit kinda sums up exactly what i'm looking for. It has both the support desk system and live response system.

I recommand Kayako LiveResponse.
