After reading all the glowing accolades from users in the alt.www.webmaster newsgroup group about ChicagoWebs I decided to give them a try after my current hosting company sold out. One of the main themes from users in the newsgroup was how quickly ChicagoWebs would respond via email to inquiries. Indeed, when I inquired about information the responses were lighting fast --just as others had claimed. Based on their seemingly excellent customer service, a package that suited my needs for a fair price, and the many exemplary reviews from members of the NG, I moved to them as my hosting company. Everything
started off great. No downtime, files pulled from the site were always available and fast. Several inquires after joining up always met with the same lighting fast response. Then, near the end of the first month, I started getting complaints from my customers that they could not access my
site or if they could, when they tried to download files the server always timed out on them. When I looked into this I experienced the exact same thing. Quite often I couldn't even reach my site. Even worse, I couldn't
download any files. This has now been going on for more than a week. When I inquired about this I no longer got a human response but an auto-responder response. The indication was that they are upgrading their connection to a
OC192 connection.
In short, for more than a week now my site has been inaccessible about 85% of the time. When people cannot access my site I lose money. Indeed, I have lost a considerable amount of money in this last week. January's sales report will have a serious plunge in it while at the same time I am actually paying the folks for this type of service. Now, getting any sort of response from them is, well, trying at best.
I'm not happy....I thought others should know as well since I did not see any postings in this forum concerning ChicagoWebs.com
