My advice to you would be to hire a telemarketing company ... We get at least 3 leads a day from ours ... the standard rate is about $35/hr If you can't afford the telemarketing company ... I suggest using Independant sales reps that work on commission ... We offer our IC's commissions starting at $350 for every lead that they generate who buys a site ... We also contract out alot of work to designers ... as a matter of fact i need 3 screenshots for a daycare Web Site by 1:00pm today ... ! JC genevaroth 06-07-2002, 02:32 PM What kinds of companies do give to the telemarketing company to call. In other words what is your demographic or typical company that you are after? Are they Currently online or offline? Does the size of the company matter to you either by $$ volume or by number of employees? Do you prefer to work with local companies? Have you developed a script to give to the telemarketing company? Any industry or business types that you find are more receptive to your marketing? Do you target companies that are already using a similar product or service? I am really interested in learning what companies are doing out there seeing as this is such a competitive market. Thanks for your feedback! otherground 06-10-2002, 08:29 PM sorry i forgot about this thread. Here's some more tips and answers. What kinds of companies do give to the telemarketing company to call. In other words what is your demographic or typical company that you are after? go to switchboard.com or yellowpages.com, search for all the lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, day care centers, autobody shops, grocery stores, etc., in your area ... copy and paste all the text into a text editor, remove all the junk and BAM! you have call lists. Are they Currently online or offline? For most of the customers we deal with, this is their first venture on the web. Does the size of the company matter to you either by $$ volume or by number of employees? Size of company doesn't matter to us at all. We specialize in small to medium size businesses. We find that the larger companies already have web sites. Do you prefer to work with local companies? It is hard (while not impossible) to get a check or a credit card from someone you've never met. It's hard to convince someone that they can trust you if you've never met them. I prefer working with local companies so I can get in their face and convince them to buy a Web Site from me. Have you developed a script to give to the telemarketing company? yep it goes something like this: Good Morning! This is [your name here] with Otherground, LLC. Do you target companies that are already using a similar product or service? nope we just pick them out of the blue .... I am really interested in learning what companies are doing out there seeing as this is such a competitive market. It is competitive. Thats why no one likes to give away their secrets :-) ... oh well there's mine ... remember, SELL, SELL, SELL! genevaroth 06-12-2002, 09:26 PM Hey thanks for all of that, I am up in canada so no real threat to your business, as my dogs on my dog sled are only good for about 20 KM But really thanks, I have been in sales for about 6 years now and am finding selling internet services a real different type of sale. I guess one thing is the sales cycle is soooo much longer and I find that I really have to work to get a client. Another niche market I thought of are Home inspectors, you know the guys that inspect a home before you buy it. Those guys must live on reputation. |
