Hi all,

If you use NetWhistle or a similar service, you'll want to check out QWK.Mon. Free service is available with timely monitoring periods.

Make sure your site is up!

Maybe add other notification options like:
ICQ
AIM
Email
phone ?

Energy,

Thanks for the suggestions. You'll be happy to know that the following notification methods are in the works:

AIM
ICQ
TAP Pager
Voice Call

First, though, there's a lot of work to be done on the user interface. It's ugly. It works, though. :)

Travis,

Other than making the navigation a little more intuitive, I would do much. I like the simple uncluttered interface. It is effective. I would suggest that your current listing monitored hosts should be on the first page when you log in for quick reference without having to go through other layers.

Good work though. This is a nice service. I thank you for making it available to others.

Thanks for the additional comments.

The listing of monitored hosts should appear right after you log in, although it's a "click here to continue" link. Maybe I should turn that into an automatic bounce...

*bump*

Just want to let people know that the service is still running strong, still free, and with a somewhat streamlined interface. ICQ Notification has also been added.

Come take a look if you're not already signed up...

I guess the free 5-minute interval monitoring service was too good to be true. The new pricing plans are at http://www.qwkmon.com/plans.php ...

Unfortunately, it couldn't last forever. With five-minute intervals, the number of hosts that can be monitored on one server is very limited. Still, it's cheaper than anything else I've seen.

Stay tuned for WHT member discounts...

(Edited to make sure people realize something important... existing configurations have *not* been altered. There is a grace period until April 1st to give people plenty of time to decide what they want to do.)

Travis I have 2 questions for you...

1. For sure several days ago when VDI has an outage for 9 hours, my server is unreachable and it is recorded in the your log that the server is down. However I have never got any notification (through email/ICQ) regarding this down time. I thought the program will automatically notify me when the server is down, right?

2. There are several other instances where the program showed that my server is unreacheable. What strange was during that time, I am pretty sure I can still reach the server and telnet into it. I am wonderring now... what other possibilities (beside my server is down) can be the cause of my server being unreachable?

cheers,
 -> elijah, this is my unregistered trademark (cheers and beer)! :D :D

Right. Although, I've had some reports from some users that ICQ messages don't get through when they're not online. I only see an ICQ notification method defined for you - I would suggest you enable some alternate methods, like e-mail at least. Also, be sure to test notifications when you define them.

Network problems can cause a server to be unreachable from some places, but not others. It's hard to say much more than that without looking at the specific situation.
